Right i dont go in for the whole "performance" spark plug thing but decided to look into different types of plug.

Now i know plugs come with various spark "heads" for different uses, Cars use single, split V, tri point, quad point etc and ones for planes have flat heads with two probes which the spark jumps between or fine wire.

But came across these things....

As normal aimed at the American market (seems like all these things are) but it does make you wonder if there is something in the idea.

I've heard of plug indexing and understand the theory behind it (for those that dont its using little shims to make sure that the bar on the bar of each plug is facing a certain way in the cylinder) and the "gains" that is supposed to bring.

Anyone else got a view on this?

most of those plugs appear to be designed for a reliable spark rather than a strong powerful spark. to get the most power from a spark plug you ideally want a single electrode one so the full intensity of the spark is sent arcing across to one electrode and burning the fuel more effectively whereas sending it to multiple electrodes weakens the spark but you can have say bosch super 4's in for 30000 miles whereas the single electrode may need replacing every 10000 miles.

Thats what i saw, the normal shape still looked the strongest spark , most seemed aimed at the people who believe you change oil by sucking it out the dip stick giving daft gain numbers and stuff.

Almost all had "evidence" to state they "PRODUCE MORE HORSEPOWER AND BETTER MPG" , One I came across even stated that after fitting it the catalyst could be removed as the engine created 0% harmful emissions.

Even found some mention to plasma plugs, using lasers and some plug that no one will make as its too good and wont wear out.
