Finally found something worth having for this on friday evening :ninja: :

Dealer display plates. Should be good for when show season starts :-)

Also bought these 6n2 alloys. Not sure whether they should end up on this or not, but they were a price i couldnt refuse. I will refurb them in grey/ antracite and then decide:

  • Nice! Clocks look smart mate.

  • might buy it, lower it and re-sell it. I'll weld them lowering springs in too so it cannot be un-done easily

Its officially the end of an era folks. Watched this drive away from me and disappear into the distance today . Goodbye M386 JOA. And Goodbye Polo's. Its good that I got near enough the price I wanted

A price you couldn't refuse... £15?

In fairness, 5 spoke wheels suit mk3s well so We'll have to see them on it to decide!

hehehee you got me good :)

You just need to be friendly with your local VW dealer. Want me to see if i can get you some meatloaf?

I got the plates off ebay. I didnt steal them or anything....

You just need empty your bank account at your local VW dealer a few times. Want me to see if i can get you some meatloaf?

Fixed that for you. Nah it's fine, thanks for the offer though. I did start trying to have some of the ones shown in MK2 brochures made but got stumped on the front and didn't take it any further.

haha nah man, although i have rinsed some money.

Main man at wolvo is a legend.

I cant imagine them charging for them either.... they aren't for sale unless your an independent dealer lol.

I've seen these on ebay a few times as Malaga said

Nice build mate.

I like those hella fog lights, I think they look ace, got my eye on some atm

I also have those alloys and tried fitting them once without any spacers on the rear and the rubbed on the strut, i think the offset is et43 so they will require at least 10-15mm spacers. The mk3 did look nice on them though, i'd whack them on!

looking good, wondered who outbid me on the plates :p was out that night and knew it would be one of about 5 people

some half colour coded bumpers or arctic blue bumper trim strip would look ace on it.

please change the mirrors to the normal mk3 ones. :paranoid: that's the only thing letting it down in my opinion.

I thought someone on here would have found the plates. I didnt think i'd get them to be honest. Sorry bout that .

Theres no way i'm changing back to the standard mirrors. I cant stand the look of the things. Half coded bumpers may well happen when i have enough money for the respray i want to sort out the annoying little rust bubbles and parking dents :-)

PLEASE GO LOW

It wont go low, this is Dan we are talking about

Shut up Toby! Well, it does seem that every time i update. I say i am getting some H&R'S soon. Its never happened though . Mostly that is due to my being rather short in the money department. Hence my frantic selling of parts i dont need.

Just to keep this thread alive:

Another set of wheels has arrived. Another massive bargain:

14" Corsa B 3 spokes. 3 good tyres (one of which is new). Only 2 have kerbing, and its only a small amount. Came with centres and removal key too, but not shown as i was part through removing the vauxhall badges.

I have also started the refurb on the 6N2 alloys. These were badly kerbed, and i did the best i could. So far 2 are looking like this:

Heres some random pics of the polo too:

Those pics really make the car look awesome, much better than any of my crappy point and shoot pics. It almost looks brand new B)

Pwoah. Clean fella! 8-)

please just bloody lower it already!

This car will go from being 'kinda cool' to 'awesome' just by lowering it.

Couldn't agree more its all that's missing for me

Its getting lowered guys dont worry. As soon as i'm employed again my first pay is being spent on a H&R kit. I could have bought the suspension already, but every time i am starting to get enough money, some OEM part comes up and i buy that instead, as the suspension can be bought any time. Talking of which, its happened again :

I collected some Votex side skirts today, quite possibly the only set in the UK. For those of you who dont know, Votex is VW's official accessory parts brand, selling anything from mud flaps to full body kits, so these are genuine VW OEM parts 8-).

Heres what they look like:

Part number on one section:

DSCF9264_zps01fcd2b6.jpg

Got one offered up to the sill. Wedged it on with boxes and a bit of tape to stop it leaning. As you can see, these dont add any extra depth to the sill, so dont give fake lowering, or sit lower than the bumpers:

Pics from differnt angles to show the fitment and look, obviously will be aligned a bit better when fitted (had slipped down a bit), but actually fit nearly perfectly, which shows the OEM quality. I will have to measure, but i think the fixing holes even line up with the holes already in the sill to accept GT trims 8-):

What do people think. I dont really care, i will still fit them if nobody else likes them, but wouldnt mind some opinions :-) . The main question now is, bearing in mind i am getting the bumpers half coded, and a period front splitter of some sort, that will be black, do i leave these black, or spray them blue??

Your bougt them, nice!

I'd get rid of the bump strips and paint them blue i think.

  • Author

Well i couldnt not really. Guy was 10 minutes from me

I was originally thinking of spraying them blue before i picked them up, but i seem to be leaning more towards leaving them black now. And my bump strips will be staying, as i like them, and everyone takes them off :-)

Keep them > colour code the bottom half of bumpers .. Gt arches and bump strips would look ace with the skirts still black imo :)

Really like them mate,

**Coughloweritcough**

glad i didnt grab them now! lol, suit yours though. leave um black!

  • Author

Cheers mate. I had pretty much bought them as soon as they appeared. They are right up my street!

Really like them mate,

**Coughloweritcough**

Read my post above the skirts  . Next thing when i get paid, when i get a job is a H&R kit. No cheapo kits for me.

Stay black!
