Jon, I am determined to have 15's on this so as nice as busters ats are, they are too small. Need to fill the arches without going ridiculously low, or having massive tyres

On another note there has been a minor development. I may have just ordered some material for a retrim.

Dont know whether its going to be any good yet as couldnt tell how thick it was, and its not meant for cars really, and i might not like it as much in the flesh. So will have to see.

It was a bargain though. £12 for 1.45m x 3m! Which is more than enough to do all the seat centre panels and a panel in the door cards. Bolsters and rest of door cards will hopefully be going black leather Whatever happens half leather is definately firmly placed in my plans.

One thing i'm not sure on is whether to use the front seats i have or get something with bigger bolsters. Thoughts?

Material hasnt turned up yet.

But been doing a few other tasks. Fixed my leaking fuel tank yesterday. Took ages to find the leak as it was so small and looked like it was coming from several places. Sanded off (well peeled off) all the blistered hammerite and sanded back the surface rust. Then cleaned up the area so i could see better. It was one tiny little pin hole, despite smelling like a petrol station forecourt . I actually couldnt even see it except for the tiny bubbles and fuel coming out.

Quiksteel is amazing. So simple to use. Loved the little styptic pencil thing. Just rub it over the hole and stops the leak instantly. Then knead the putty and stick it on and press down. Leak gone. No more fuel smell. Painted over it with hammerite once dryed :-).

Also this happened:

Car was on the drive, but wind was trying to pull the bonnet of the prop. Didnt want a bonnet on my head, so drove up the path to the porch to get out of the wind. Looks like it wants to come in:

Got the dremel out, marked up the areas and cut some chunks out of it. Resulting in this (looks messy but will get tidied up):

The reason i needed to cut the plastic away. Hella Grille fitment. Finally bothered to start this job. Would have been on there, but need to make a new loom as i'm not happy with current one. Mainly the position of the relay which would be exposed to water. Should be fitted and wired next week, in time for springfest:

All yesterday afternoon and evening until it went dark, were spent making a loom for my grille, wrapping it, running it from the scuttle to front and then adding connectors.

Tryed to fit the grille and it was having none of it and was getting dark and i was hungry, so gave up. Got back to it this morning and after cutting a bit more of the plastic away in front of the rad i got the grille fitted.

It was loose due to weak clips, and only two weak clips at that. So had to use cable ties to help hold it. I've seen these fitted with cable ties before and you could see the cable ties, which i didnt want. So i hid the cable ties by utilising holes in the grille lamp brackets and fixing them to the slam panel near the headlights. You would never tell it wasnt being held by the clips alone :-)

However thats as far as it got. I couldnt get it too work. Had a meet to go to so just left it. Came home at 6 this evening and had another go at it. Turns out that copying the loom that came with the grille wasnt a good thing to do. I hadnt earthed it, so wasnt getting a complete circuit. Feel stupid now. So an hour and some small wiring modifications later:

Looks sweet with all the lights on but your fog lights look super weak sauce? Does it produce any noticeable increase in the light output from the driver seat? I bet the alternator loves all this

Does doesnt it :-D Yeah, the alternator loves all the lights. You can here the revs drop a bit when you put the fogs on, then again when you hit main and the spots come on

I have 2 amps too!

Fogs are weak, yes, but they are wired as per factory. The fact that i have 4 main beams on make them look worse though. They dont really make that much difference to the light and i only have them as they look cool. I could relay them, but i've seen a few people melt the plastic bulb holders doing that and i dont want to trash a mint set. Plus it looks untidy, and i already have too many wires.

Haven't taken it out yet, so yet too see what difference the grille makes, but i should think it will be a noticable improvement.

Now, i'm not so sure about this. Its more cream than i thought it would be and it may be a bit too retro? The blue is pretty close though :-). If i do use it, the bolsters will be going black leather, and the front seats are getting swapped for GT seats, or 'Rocco ones. What do people think?

I've got some gt bulsters if need be .. Took the frame off one of them to mock my new seats up like :)

Noowhere near best in the UK, but maybe it will be up there with the best one day! Your welcome to lower it for me, saves me the job . Just make sure you bring a brand new H&R 60/40 kit and all new bushes, bump stops and top mounts and some ARB blocks.

but your doing the right thing... dont ruin it with some crap suspension under it, thats a waste :)

Do you want me to spec you a kit Dan for what you want instead of an off the shelf one?

Have contacts at billstein & eibach so is doable, billstein make dampers to suit already so would be a case of swapping some shims and then eibach may already offer a spring but I believe I may be able to get custom ones reasonably priced too. Depends what you'd want to spend on a kit.

It's a polo not a Bentley just wack a 60/40 on lol!

Gaz coilovers are on my list but I just want to see this low soon!
