Cheers mate. I love yours I will be using the seats in this. Just need to find some door cards and black carpets to replace the grey. The elbow on the carpet has been refurbed and sprayed satin black now, it was for sale but a mate is probably having it.

Done something else cool today. Heres the result of using up some more of my black carpet:

Sorry for crappy pics, but it was dark when i finished. As you can see i carpeted the suspension turrets/ wheel arch tubs. It all looks pretty flash now in my boot with all that carpet, much like a modern car. It should help reduce road noise a bit too . I will be carpeting the seat back, not on that seat, but my genesis split folding bench.

The only thing about that is, you won't want to put anything in your boot to keep all your work good!

Not really an update but i put the battery back on today and fired it up. Left it running for a bit. So shut the door, and the horn blew. So opened it and shut again, and horn blew again. Thought WTF!? So turned it off and popped the horn push out. Turns out i was missing a spring from my GT wheel, and every time the door shut the circuit was completing. Good job i noticed, or it would of been pretty embarassing when i got it on the road, beeping every time i hit a bump

Also got an original brochure for the Polo Parade/ Match, which is pretty cool.

Got annoyed at my headlight loom upgrade. As after wrapping it in loom tape, it wont fit where/how i want it

Sorted out some rust in the battery tray, nothing serious just a few blisters on the rear clamp thing (dont know what its called). Ground it back and painted it with satin black hammerite. I've also cleaned up the battery clamp, which will be sprayed satin black before its re fitted using stainless nut and washer :-)

I did this today, it was something i could do inside, as it was raining :

Changed the filters in all the switches and heater controls. I took the switches apart, removed the filters and replaced with red aceatate. I re did the heater control filter, with red and blue, instead of its previous all blue. Headlight switch doesnt light up though, and clocks are still green (for the moment).

Really really liking this, such a nice colour.

I'm also a fan of refurbishing scruffy bits. Just finished repainting my arch and sills trims satin black, makes such a difference.

Yesterday i dismantled quite a bit of my dash . In preperation for my GT clocks that arrived today, and also to change the colour of the ciggy lighter illumination. Blue LED's for the clocks are also on order, along with an ISO cable for my stereo.

What it currently looks like. Removed the clocks without taking off the wheel, and without those u shaped key things. Just used a flat blade screw driver to press the spring clips in :

Also had to remove the speaker on the drivers side to reach the clips. Found it was filthy under the speaker grille, and cleaned it, but the speakers are shot, so are going straight in the bin:

My late spec GT clocks arrived today, so i quickly unwrapped and set upon them with a screwdriver. The result:

Also took my old clocks apart so i could swap the speedo into the GT ones' leaving me with this. My low miler speedo in the GT clocks:

Made up a new filter using the original green one as template. Its actually made of thick tracing paper, and hopefully will diffuse the light from the blue LED's enough to prevent hot spots:

The rev counter from the GT clocks and the LCD clock. I'm hoping to change the colour of the filter in the clock and flip it, so the numbers appear red and the background black. However i have no clue how it comes apart:

Put both sets of clocks back together for today. The GT ones will be coming apart again when i know how to change the filter in the clock:

I also now have a splitter for the front bumper. Its a MK3 Golf GTI one, and cost me exactly £0. Freebie! Its a bit battered but i am going to tidy it up and trim it to fit. I was at my local cruise yesterday night, and got chatting with a guy in a MK3 Golf. I mentioned that the splitters fit polos, and he said; take mine off and you can have it! So i did

All the instruments are on small posts and just pull off. My temp gauge is dodgy so i need to swop mine, only gets to 70 degrees when upto temp

The temp guage on my white mk3 only gets to 70 too. Common fault i should think. Pull!? I just hope it doesnt break

Just been trying to pull. Wouldnt come off. So looked underneath by prising the board up with a screwdriver and there are screws holding the LCD clock from the back I need to pull the circuit board out to get to the back, which is a pain, as its near impossible.

Very easy mate. Just un do 6 screws on the back of the clocks, and lift it out. The hard bit is getting the clocks out in the first place. Mine were a real pig to remove and i drew blood trying to press in the spring clips!

Highly unlikely mate. They dont tend to have stuff that old in there. I've asked before and they had nothing but 6n stuff. The only place round here i know had MK3's in is a place in leominster, P&T moore. They had 3 in but none had rev counter clocks. So you may get lucky there?

Cheers dude! I knew i'd seen this guide before but couldnt find it for looking Its nothing i dont know now though, as i've figured it out by trial and error! Think i'll just put a blue LED in the clocks and see if it can overwhelm the filter, as it really does feel like somethings going to break .
