Another update!

Interior is now all in and bolted/ screwed down. The first time its had a complete interior for a few months:

This Genesis interior and black carpet looks so much better than the nasty pale grey CL interior this was born with. Heres a before and after for you:

After:

Amp is in, and tucked under the seat. Tiny little Vibe lite box:

Changed the interior light for a brighter LED:

Sidelights are LED now too:

I also fitted Osram night breaker upgraded bulbs to the headlights.

Fog light loom is wrapped in loom tape, and has been run following factory wiring, and then i fitted the new connectors. Its now ready for my fogs:

Red stripe added to the rear bumper to match the front:

And a subtle sticker, in the same colour as the car 8-):

Finally, i also fitted the Genuine rubber mats, and stuck the NOS optional extra 'polo' mat badges in place:

The next update should be wheel, tyre and suspension related, and hopefully OEM fog lamp related too :-)

Gonna be there saturday?

Foglight cable looks a bit measly. What's it rated at?

Nope. Afraid not. Cant afford insurance till the white one sells.

Its the same thickness as the wiring that is attatched to the connectors i have (didnt end up using them as i sorced new ones), which came from a MK2 Golf fog loom? Thinks its 5 amp, 60 watts. Should be plenty man enough, polo fogs are pretty pathetic

Should have done my research before making that loom. Looking like the wiring isnt going to be good enough after all  Which means i have wasted about £15. And now will maybe have to spend that again. Theres always LED bulbs?

Pretty major update. Not really related to this car in most ways though. Sold my white coupe yesterday at stanford hall, and the guys taking it away today, so this will be my only car. Just need to get it insured (and wait for the docs), and then taxed. Then i shall get the fuel tank changed and the suspensiion will go on :-)

I have done something to it though (apart from fail at making the stereo work). Fitted these (And before any of you comment on the crapness of them. Look at the second pic of them in the pack):

Yes. they really are  Couldnt leave them for £2.

Looks crazy, Nice little add there tho! Haha

Nice one Dan!

Those 'Things i was test fitting before are awesome. RH cups one of my favourite wheels. I bought these for the tyres really. What headlight adjusters?

Cheers mate :-)

I've seen his front room , enough vw parts/wheels lol..

  • Author

Yep. theres a few parts  RH cups in the living room, along with 2 suitcases and a box thats overflowing, of polo bits. RA's in the kitchen. Another set of RA's in the one shed, with more polo bits, teardrops in the other shed (along with another 2 sets of rims that are dads and some MK1/2 golf stuff). Polo's boot is full too, and dont get me started on the attic

is the roof bowing cus the amount of stuff in there? lol

  • Author

Dont think so. Not all car bits up there anyway. But the ceiling is cracking

New, beefier cable ordered for attempt 2 at the fog loom.

Wind deflectors ordered, turned up and one is bust, so waiting on another pair

Fogs are supposedly on their way, but i have been told that before.

Sorted out an issue with the stereo wiring and got it working and set up. Then the battery died, so lost all the settings. Charged it and did them again. Started the car, it lives!

Really need a sub though, as my components just dont kick enough on their own. That'll have to wait a bit though, as i need other things first. Starting with tax, as its insured now so time to get it off that SORN :-)

swap the wires round on one of the speakers and see if they sound better

I agree, they are ok wheels, just not on a MK3 IMO. Looks wrong. Also the RA's will go much much better with the hole OEM goings on.

If your not keeping the RA's, possibly interested :)

Dan you should of said about the loom mate, Could of made you one at work lol .

Made mine and its all shrink wrapped and looked oem untill i had to change the relay as it was abit tempremental. Now has green/yellow shrink wrap -_- lol

  • Author

Jamie,The loom was an experience mate! You dont really need relays in the loom for MK3 fogs, they never had them from factory, so as i like to keep it OEM mine wont have them.

Toby, i'll let you know if i decide i dont want the RA's, but i think i might run them for a bit :-) Will you be at BVF?

This is now taxed, and fully legal. Went round the estate in it yesterday afternoon to check if everything was working as it should, and all appears fine :-D

I am amazed by how quiet and smooth a drive it is compared to the white one i just sold, feels a bit nippier too. Also the ride on the standard shocks and springs is very comfy, so comfy in fact i'm thinking of leaving it all the way up there! They really are nice to drive stock :-)

Fogs have been dispatched to me. FINALLY!

I just got one for the sake of it . Need a plug mate i've got one spare somewhere lol
