anyone that could swop a bulb can remove a bulb holder

Cleaned the fogs a bit yesterday afternoon. Then went outside and got them fitted. Took a few hours to take the front bumper and grille off, run the loom, cut the holes out bigger, and get everything lined up and back on. But they're on. Also swapped my white grille badge, for the Genuine black one. Heres the result :

There is a slight problem, they dont work. But i knew that before i even fitted them. My rear fog has never worked, and despite testing everything with a multi meter, cant seem to find a reason why. Fronts are on the same circuit so whatever is effecting the rear, effects them. Its not the switch, as i have had 3 switches in there, and tested mine with a multi meter and it works, so it appears does all the wiring, so i dont know whats going on .

Yep german ebay. Theres alot of crap sets on there, and most sellers wont even ship outside of Germany, or accept paypal. Luckily i found a nice set, with UK shipping and paypal :-)

Next is Genuine electric windows that i should be collecting at the weekend. Then H&R lowering springs. Then headlamp washers, headlamp protectors and a Hella/ Votex spotlamp grille if i can get hold of them. Hopefully i can work out how my electric headlamp adjusters and heated washer jets fit/ wire up and get those working :-D .

I've tried a few bulbs, fuse is fine too.

I thought they would of? given its small current at the switch but the lights will take quite a high power?

In that case... wiring diagram find where they pick up a life and trace it through and then you earth make sure all is gravy.

take the two lives from the fog lamps ... makes sure the fogs are earthed and just touch them on to see if they light up ..

Took the polo to my local show at the weekend. BVF in malvern. Armed with my free ticket, i rolled in late friday afternoon, pitched camp, detailed the car and enjoyed the weekend. Weather was awesome, and car was displayed with VWOCGB in the hall.

Grabbed a few bits for it while i was there. Handed over some cash for some electric life electric windows, polo specific ones, and a full set of boot/ door seals.

I've also found out that my fuel tank is in a much worse state than i previosly thought. I thought i had a minor leak, from a small hole in the filler neck, and was going to seal it with leak fix, and paint over. Simple. So i parked it on the kerb so it would leak, and looked under with a torch to find the hole. Turns out its a split/ rusty seam. And the neck lit up when i shone my torch near it, its bodged with fibreglass, and a thin layer of black paint over it .

So i got my slightly dented (was on a low car) second hand tank, sanded the neck, and any other surface rusty bits down. And painted kurust on, then 4 layers of hammerite on the neck and 2 layers everywhere else. Should help keep rust at bay. Just a shame its dented, but as i already have it i may aswell use it and save £95.

Hopefully getting it fitted next friday, so my fuel capacity will be more than £5, ready for Dubstock show on friday afternoon/ saturday and Tatton Park show on sunday :-)

I loooove this, looks so clean... definitely the best mk2f colour! as much as i love it in its current guise, me thinks subtle lows will set it off :)

Gorgeous car, its all the littel details on that this that make it a shame to put it behind a chain fence, you really need to get up close to admire it!

Engine bay btw, TESA loom tape, its what VAG use to wrap wiring looms highly reccomended if you want to do yours.

The chain is a VWOC thing. I wanted it out from behind there, but i'm not in charge of the club. I could have gone on CP stand, but i wouldnt have a free weekend ticket then. It will be unchained at Tatton park though :-)

Looks great! Not sure about the 'levy windows though - my kit (which is fitted) doesn't have the kink in the rail just after the motor as yours does. Have you had the up against a door to be sure they will fit?

Not had them against the door. I was just going on what i was told, that they would fit in, and are for a polo mk2/3. Hopefully they fit, as i have wasted £50 if they dont. Probabbly wont be fitting them for a while anyway, as i have other things to worry about first. Just bought them because they were there :-)

Not really an update to speak of, but hopefully the fuel tank should be fixed tommorrow, ready for Tatton park at the weekend.

I've also just won Polo of the month for July, over on Polo3 forum, not a huge achievement i know, but i'm well pleased :-D

As long as they fit, and i haven't wasted my money they should be fine. Not that they will be going anywhere near the car any time soon, as i have other stuff in front of them in the que :-D.

Fuel tank got changed yesterday. Didnt do it myself, as i couldnt be bothered . Saw the old one when i went to pick the car up, and it was even worse than i had ever thought. The main body of the tank was fine (actually better than the one i had put in, as thats pretty dented) but the neck was shocking. Had a split seam where it joined the tank, and a couple of large holes, which were patched with fibreglass, which had an even bigger split in it! At least i can fill up now, without fuel leaking everywhere :-)

I've bought a little alpine sub, which i will be getting Thursday. And got my eye on an alpine amp too. Should add enough bass, but not be over the top.

As it seems to not run quite as smoothly as i want, i am replacing all the ignition stuff, as the plugs and leads are probabbly old and they are cheap nasty ones. Got some triple silicone, high performance leads off ebay, for an absolute bargain of £9.36 (normally around £45!) and will be ordering Bosch super 4 plugs and a new dizzy cap/ rotor arm.

Also getting a gearbox from Tatton this sunday, to replace mine, which has a noisy 4th. It will be cleaned and painted before it goes in :-).

I am thinking about (better cash flow permitting) getting a GT rear beam (with arb built in), and some spare front struts, and rebuilding/ powdercoating them. Along with new rear drums, My VW 2's up front, a bigger master cylinder and braided hoses. Then H&r springs, new TCA's, track-rod ends, polybushes and ARB blocks. And maybe one of those GT steering racks with the damper.

That should get it driving and handling better :-)

I need a job and another car to execute most of these plans though

Not much happened with this lately. Just been driving it about and enjoying it. Taken it to a few local meets and most people seem to like it. Seems to get a few looks around town too, probablly due to the bright colour, and the fact its always clean :-D . Some stereo upgrades are happening though. I have a nice little 8" sub for the boot :-) :

Its an alpine and should fill the hole in my sound system where there should be some bass. It is also small, so i dont lose much of my valuable boot space.

Got a matching alpine amp on the way.

Also got hold of a replacement gearbox to get rid of my noisy 4th gear.

And had one of my dice valve caps stolen. The 5th time scum have taken some or all of my fancy valve caps

Like that sub, nice and small :)
