Not such a bad idea the Fire and Ice interior, you think it's exactly the same color? doubt.gif

not shure about that, bit since your original seats have a slightly color gradient, i Think it will fit quite good.

There's something just very right about that look. The whole package, trim, ride height, sizing and placement of various wheel aspects..

I do like it on the E31's but it's a shame about the offset, maybe a change in tyre size would improve it for me. I don't think they give the car quite the clean look of the Hockenheims, though.

I wanna see the Mahles on a mini!

Hi everybody! Hope you all spent a great Christmas and New Year's eve!

Just coming to give a little update!

All the wiring is ready, the... part at the bottom of the windshield was a little rusty, and it was eve, ripped on a corner  So got that fixed too.

Next step is to get a correct suspension and some new tyres.

By the way, any of you guys going to the PoloShow UK? We're quite a bunch of belgian/french guys who are thinking of coming this summer... You'll have no excuse to walk past my car without saying hello :D

Yep there should be quite a few of us there :) Hopefully all these Mk2's that are currently being worked on will be there! :)

Did'nt manage to make it to the PoloShow :(

But the GT engine is in and running perfectly! Only problem when you start swapping engines, there just is'nt ever enough HP...

Just a few pictures to show you the work accomplished.

Last picture of the Polo with the MH (2G) engine :)

Had to remove a few stuff to put in all the wiring for the fuel pumps :p

I now officially drive a pink GT! :D And am proud of it 8-)

I love this car! It is absolutely gorgeous.

Keep up the good work.

I need a mk2 in my life!

This is beautiful!

That interior was fucking awesome, get it back in!!!

You all seem to love the old interior :D

But the new one has GT seats in the front, and they are really comfy... But speakin' of the look of the interiors, definitely prefer the original ine, of course :-D

Found a few pictures of my car on the internet!

I was thinking of modifying a little the 3F... Just minor modifications.

- exhaust line

- modified air intake

- camshaft (any advice to help me choose one?)

- modifying the cylinder head a little

And the rest, well... my english vocabulary for technical terms is a little poor...

If you guys have any advice to give me...

Really like the look of this. An inspiration for my Mark2, definitely!

As for tuning the 3F, I've had good results from a stainless 4 branch exhaust manifold, exhaust system, Golf GTi 1.8 airflow meter with cone filter and a different map for the ECU. Its good for 90bhp in my Mark3.

  • Author

Thanks mate!

Good to know all that :D And no camshaft? Awesome to get 90bhp with such little modifications!

Theres a few other bits and pieces, but I doubt they would affect power so much. I have de-wedged the throttle butterfly for better throttle response and I'm running a 13 row oil cooler which was there when I was running the original GT gearbox (before it blew up ).

With headwork and a camshaft, around 268/268, you should see around the 100bhp mark. At our annual rolling road day, 2 3F powered Mark2s topped that figure with my modifications plus the headwork and camshafts. IIRC both of those cars were also using the stock airflow meters too. Some say the Golf item is hard to set-up, but mine hasn't caused issue, and opens things up at the top end a bit.

  • Author

What do you mean by de-wedging? Removing that little part? I was thinking of enlarging the butterfly part, but no idea of how much I can do it... I have a friend you can do that for free, so why not give it a try? :-D

Thanks very much for all your explainations!

You got it in one :-).

Just undoing the 2 screws, removing the 'wedge' and then I plugged the holes with 2 small rivets, which I then ground down slightly.

Does it help with only little mods done to the rest?

Hello guys!

Just here to give some quick news of the Gaymobile... The first 3F I had put in let me down... I actually got it from a crashed car and the alternator pulley was kinda fucked, the engine was brutally stopped... I suspect the little part that holds the crankshaft pulley to the crankshaft to have suffered in the crash... The engine still managed to start but by putting the ignition advance (does that even mean something in english? ) to its max setting...

Hopefully, I had been searching after a camshaft and other parts for the 3F before it broke down, and found a 100k km 3F with a 269° Catcams camshaft and an accordgingly modified ECU!

Courbepuissancecouple_zps44e2d66f.jpg

Still not as much as the previous owner would've expected... But engine still is'nt perfectly tuned...

Swapping engines, again... 3rd time with her!

DSC_3510_zpsf0d7c266.jpg

I'm looking forward to putting an adjustable pulley, to get everything perfectly lined up too! And also modifying the throttle body like on this eBay.de link http://www.ebay.de/itm/RS-Drosselklappe-Po...=item3a7e6082a8.

Was also thinking of putting a G40 fuel pump, with a pressure regulator and an other set of injectors, depending on rather it's useful or not... If the stock injectors still provide enough flow, than this of course won't be done...

Also had a little mishap...

IMG00290-20130311-1118_zpsf389f54f.jpg

Was putting my lowered suspension back on, outside in front of my house, it was raining and probably wanted to go a bit too fast towards the end... And didn't put the suspension ball joint correctly in... Did hold for +/- 300km though

But a few days later, it all passed incognito :lol:8-) Just a newer looking wing extension (also made that word up  please, if you see me inventing words or making any sort af mistakes when I wright stuff, really feel free to correct me! )

The Mahle's suit this car so much!

Anymore pictures of the jetta? :unibrow:

Nice work. 'tis especially lovely on the mahles.

Love those wheels too! But was thinking of mounting some Intra K7651 8-) You now, the same wheels that were also mounted on Twingos.

DSC_2973.jpg

But I'll still be keeping the Mahles, I just know I'll regret it if I sell them

As for the Jetta, here's a link with some pictures :)

http://www.golfistes.com/viewtopic.php?t=2...c&start=900

Them Intras are pretty tasty tbf.

Looks awesome on those wheels right there.

Hey dude!

Nice little update. You were very lucky with the ball joint incident :lol:!

The figures on the graph aren't too bad. As you say, to make the most of the camshaft a vernier would be ideal.

Regarding your idea with the G40 fuel pump. It's the same PSi as the GT item, which I assume you're running? The stock GT injectors should be good for 100bhp if not slightly more. It doesn't help to try these things though :D.

  • Author

Yep, really was lucky with that ball joint incident, I was driving at +/- 50 km/h...

Thanks for the info on the fuel pump and the injectors! That'll save me a little money :D Now all I need is a guy who can tune up the adjustable pulley...

Hi everyone!

Have any of you aver tested Nankang AS-1 tyres? Was thinking of buying some in 175/50 R13 for the Intras... I've always used Nankang and never had any problem with them (well, don't fool around with them on a wet road, that's for sure...), but only the XR-611 and NS-2 models designs...

Otherwise, the car still has got some mechanical/electrical problems, she just won't run normally... When I'm at idle and want to put full throttle, the revs don't immediately rise, she first starts by "coughing" (hope you'll understand what I'm trying to say :D ). Problem dissappears if I put full spark advance... But of course, I'm not driving the car like that! I don't wanna change engines every month

She'll also "cough" when driving at low charge, constant throttle position, which gets annoying reeeaaaally fast... I put an injection engine in my car exactly to aviod having that kind of problems...

And if I put less advance, she simply takes about 1min of starter cranking to get running, but will run more smoothly at low charge. However, the "coughing" problem when going to idle to full throttle worsens (engine may even stop...).

If you guys have ever heard of such a problem... I'm going to get myself an OBD2 cable and see if I can't figure out what's wrong with that... (and also because I think I'd be really awesome to see the info from the ECU on my computer )

  • 2 weeks later...

It may be a wild stab in the dark, but I'm wondering if it's your throttle position sensor on the side of the throttlebody, thats giving you problems. Have you got one you can swap over to try?

  • 2 weeks later...
  • Author

I've already changed it... But might be worth trying another one, just in case the other I tested was U/S as well...

I also realised my ignition coil was f*cked... With my spark advance retarded a little and a functional ignition coil, she's been running much better (but I think I've lost a little power :/ ).

I think an adjustable pulley might be pretty interesting though... I'll see with Catcams if they can provide me with the information I need to tune it properly!

BTW, I've mounted the Intras with Nankang AS1's in 175/50 but it doesn't look as nice as I was hoping, so I'm selling them (to a friend with an Mk3, should look nicer on that!) and probably will be putting on some Mohags (RSL Cult copies) that are sitting in my garage (need a little refurbishing though). Anybody knows a place where I could get a set of fake screws? The old ones are all oxidized...

Found this site http://www.titanium-touch.de/shop/product_...crew-d6x10.html but damn, it's gonna end up being pretty expensive for a bunch of fake screws :/

Actually, I'm starting to get used to these Twingo wheels... But RSLs will look cooler I think, more contemporary with the car...
