pic request: mk2's on 15's

Featured Replies

i keep toying with the idea of ronal turbos on the loon but ime really not sure how it would look with 15's, ime not sure if they are just too big for the arches but the idea would be to go for the higher offset versions et36 iirc and go for some tuck and more lows :)

so ime after pictures of mk2's with 15's fitted, and also what they are like day to day, ie rubbing and extra strain on the cv joints if your running decent power, i would also like to know 15x?, offset and tyre size please :)

Is it a looks thing or a power thing?

If looks i'd just run 165/40/15's or 50's if its a power thing i dont think you'd get 195's on to get a decent tyre to floor contact patch so it wouldnt be worth it. Best compromise i'd say would be 14's with 195's ;)

the power thing aint an issue as ime more than happy with the grip i get from my 175/50 conti sport contacts :)

Thats my point.... if your runing a decent width tyre like that with a decent side wall you'll be greatly dissapointed by the lack of grip a 165/40 or 50 will give you.

ahh i get you, would it really be that much different? it spins up like a mofo as it is, even more when i get the engine back...

Just found this!

They actually dont look anywhere near as big and dopey as i thought they might look!

Alright fella I'm running g60s and have been a while, there is vertually no scrubbing or catching

Think they are only 6j with a 165/50/15 tire, it sticks well accelorating and braking but turning at speed is a bit sketchy

Its only a 1litre at the min but undergoing a gt conversion so ill let u know how it handles then lol.

Anyhow I think mines lowerd 80/80? Not 100 percent sure, and only catches a bit of the plastic on full lock.

Ah ok, i dont have arch liners so that shouldnt be a problem then :)

I may just have to keep a sly eye out for some turbos :ninja: but will possibly invest in some sh*t hot tyres if and when i get some

Some dark coloured turbos with the right tyres on your car would look mean!!

Only early polo i've seen with turbo's on and that was low had had the front arches pulled (think it was a blue mk2 loon). All the ones with standard arches look like the offset is too low to get any tuck or even to get the tyre near the arch

well the starmags i have on at the moment ar et6 and the turbos ime after are et36 so i think with slightly pulled arches they should fit under fine :)

just a pic or two to give u an idea pal

what offset are they?

Think they are et 35 just standard vw g60 steels

165/50/15 tires with 5mm spacers on the back

can just about fit the end of ma finger between the tire and arch.

Need to get the front a tad lower yet so it sits even!

Ill be up your way after christmas when I've done this conversion, wanna do a few more meets!

mines sat on 15's cant upload a pic but you can see it at the side

Maybe but from what I've seen you may need more than a slight pull get get them under and not rape the tyres when turning. Tyre choice will be very important, I tried some 15" venoms on my mk2 with 195/50 on and that scrubed on the front at -40mm and they were quite a high offset.

Are g60's 6 or 5.5j?

Yeh g60s are 6j ill get a pic with the centres off they are stamped in the centre ring of the wheel.

If I were buying some more wheels I'd probs go 14 or 13 as to get a better ride, I only run 25 psi to get some comfort back lol

Can't mate the tsw's foul the steering arms on my coil overs, wouldn't take much to sort it but can't really be arsed tbh
