Polomon you can't use the whole mk3 setup as I'm sure the discs are 5 stud wheel fitment on mk3 golfs and only the drums ran 4 stud

ok so using vagcat i have hopefully compiled a list of cars that each part is available from using the part numbers (you may have to sign up to vagcat forums, which is free anyway):

i have only listed one side as there are slightly different part numbers for each side but it doesnt really matter as it will obviously be the same car :)

stub axel: 333501117

narrower carriers: 1H0615426

alloy calipers: vagcat isnt up to date enough to cover mk4 golfs so if anybody else has access to a newer one the information would be greatly appreciated!

it would also appear that all the rear disc to go with these parts are 226x10mm i take it these are the ones i shall need?

Can anybody please confirm this information??

It dealt with the rear hand brake adaptors and had dimensions etc. Also it had info on making the rear cables fit, something to do with turning the brackets round on the rear beam. Loads of pictures and stuff. Anyone know where that went?

i know which thread you are talking about and it is already in the faq, but as you said that only really cover's the cable issue, in this thread i am trying to cover the whole conversion process and what parts are needed from where etc

not yet, i still need to find out the correct disc sizes as i have found out conflicting information

What car are the brakes from? You should just be able to just use those

ok so i have discovered today that its the 226x10 discs that are required not the 239x10 as somebody previously mentioned, i also ordered wheel bearings and pads at the same time, i shall include more pictures when i have everything bolted together!

its a gt so has a compensator anyway

Not far off fitting my setup but i still need a couple of bits,

Will the standard mk2 golf rear flexis fit and be long enough?

And will i be ok to just shorten the standard handbrake cable inners to the correct lengh and just re solder another barrel on the end?

edit: i found the link to german ebay for the handbrake cable adapters, just 19 euros for the pair plus a little postage so i will be ordering them asap!

Which length is it though? There seems to be a couple to choose from on ECP?

Get the longest one then you can't go wrong can you as long as the ends are right it's better too long than too short mate

What do you want to know Craig? You have all the parts don't you, besides the compensator.

Regarding rear flexis, I've had to make an additional hardline for mine to go between the two rear flexis. Not sure if its needed, but i couldn't seem to get the flexis to reach. Maybe i'm being a spaz as pete seems to have gotten it to work. I'll try and get some pics at the weekend to explain a little better what i mean.

BTW, could you post up the search terms for the hand brake adaptors please in case i cant get access to a lathe. Ta

Have you checked to see how many outlets your current M/C has and compare that to the number on the golf item

Thank Craig. Probably get a couple of sets of them. Cheaper than having a set made if I can't get on the lathe at work. Even then, probably couldnt buy the material for that money.

All your parts look correct, but since i've used all mk2 golf stuff, i can't say for sure.

As i'v mentioned before, i think any 4 stud hub would work. Therefore I'm looking at fitting 6n gti/tdi tear discs in the future. The stub axles are the same bolt pattern to the rear beam so I can't see any problems beyond a handbrake issue, which is nothing more than with the golf set up. When I get round to fitting these ones, I'll be sure to do a step by step guide with all parts listed etc. Though this may not be much good to you by that point!

ok so i have been assesing the hose setup on the golf compared to the polo,

i have 2 left over rear goodridge hoses from the set i bought for the polo some time back, and i see no reason why i cant just attach those to the usual polo attachment points on the body and on the axel and then just run a hard copper line from the flexi to the caliper as you would a drum brake, is there any reason this could not be done? and by that i mean would there be any problems in not using a flexi hose from the axel to the caliper and the hardline instead?

they are the same as the originals, just goodridge instead :)

Just be sure to support the hardlines and make sure the flexi is long enough to allow full extension as I said above. If you keep the flexi towards the front of the axle, this area wont move too much so wont need to be too long. As I said above, I've had to make up a short hardline to connect my flexis at the back (i got the 6 hose golf 16v set)
