Funding for a project?

Agree with the above you should go to the job centre.

If you think about it youve probably spent a good chunk of time working and payed a decent amount of money to the goverment. Time to get some back.

I've recently been quite badly ill and unable to work but I've been getting SSP. I didn't feel bad doing it because i had a right to it. And now I'm better I'm working loads again.

Anyway, back to the original question its a combination of.

Not drinking (cant anyway)

Mending games consoles

Mending computers

Mending mates cars

Any odd jobs i get i.e. building flat packs, clearing sheds etc.

Having an un-materialistic missus who is mostly bothered about seeing me rather than what i buy her

Working as many hours as i can be given

Well, i've started the whole odd jobs thing, and later this evening i'm collecting some alloys to refurbish, which i will be getting a nice £100 for.. And that's them paying for the paint too 8-)

Anyway, Because i've got sooo many ideas for a MK1, i decided to turn them into images, so i did a quick photoshop of roughly what i'd like to do.. Comments of course, please :-D

I like the ats classic style too, i just can't find any decent shots of them to put on the picture lol

To buy my project in the first place I just saved £100 a month, its not a lot and as I previously said I have use of a car being a named driver on another policy so tbh I just put the money away waited till I had enough for the car I wanted and started looking. I chose a rover 200 as there dirt cheap and had a fair amount of bits left from my old mg zr to go on. No one seemed to want to but them so thought I'd put them to good use, plus insurance on the car I wanted is 3 times what I would have paid for the car. Don't get me wrong people may think £100 to save is nothing to save a month but it adds up and personaly with a house 2 kids and a baby on the way its all about priorities.

Buy that MK1 in the pics mate. My old car, and would love to see it back on the road, and looking good 8-)

Tbh that's probably about how much I have to spend on my cars each month, its not how much you have that's important but how you spend it. There are plenty of bargains about of you look

You should join up at the jobcentre

No no no no no no no. I have to go to it and it's a joke.

Agree it is a joke (many hours spent pissed off in that place) but he should still get signed up like Matt says. Also don't tell them that you have money aside or they will tell you to come back once its all gone

And when you come back they'll probably turn you down because you've been in already.

You don't know how badly i want to mate! I got a quote of a delivery place to have it bought to me on a truck, and it will cost £275! But i am 2 hours away..

I'm going to talk to my parents about a short term loan from them, as they're minted, then talk to a mate about going to collect it for me in his truck. If it's all good, then i was going to let the owner know lol

Did I ever tell you how much the power techs cost me Ben?

Don't you think it's a little short sighted to start a project with no money/employment?

And why shouldn't you sit about in the job centre? You would only normally be at work. There's money involved after all, can't expect these jobs to fall into your lap after all

lmao... Seriously you haven't a fucking clue whats about to hit you when enter the real world.

I really wish all i had to worry about was insurance, beer and girls.

Id have about 3 G40's sat outside if this were the case

Thats one less thing to worry about ;)

Really is daft not to go sign on, I did it for 12months and got £50 a week also one day one of the advisers came over to me whilst I was waiting to sign on and gave me an application form which hadn't been advertised yet, needless to say I got a job from it.

''Shit, I'll take any motherfuckers money if he giving it away!'

Another NO to a loan, even from family. Don't spend money you don't have. I have a direct debit to my savings before I can spend it, but saving for a house deposit rather than towards the car. Needs more time than money spending on it but living 120 miles away from it and paying London rent these days! Got a good job now though. Hopefully get more done at Christmas, would love it to be at body shop some time next year...*sigh*.

You will need a good credit rating to get a decent mortgage, which you won't have if you have never borrowed money. So loans and credit cards are useful, as long as you pay them back of course.

Doesn't paying car insurance monthly (as that is actually a loan) and having a contract phone boost your credit rating?

Didn't when I got mortgage. Bird had both of those but her rating meant nothing to the banks. Was only cos id had cards and loans that they accepted us. Stupid really.

Balls, guess I best get a credit card then

Mobiles do a little, but not to any great extent. It's a multi leveled thing, a phone contract (annual prison sentance not a rolling one) will make it easier to get a credit card, which makes it easier to get a mortgage.

My phone's on a rolling contract, so that makes no difference, so I use a bonded fuel card to increase my rating, which aside from the £500 deposit, is a bit of a plan with no drawbacks because I get cheaper diesel and build my rating :)

Dont have a social life.

Dont have a girl.

Work silly hours.

lmao, just an option..

Meh that's I'm doing from next week - 9 till 9 day shifts... Mond-Fri :(

Just keep saving up the dosh!

It's just about being sensible with your money and spending it wisely, I don't work silly hours and I'm not on a massive wage, I haves misses house and two kids as well but I still manage to spend money on my cars because I make a little money go a long way (read I'm tight  ).

I got a mate who just chucks cash at his mk2 golf, he buys all the bits new and rushes into it buying from places like halfords or the adds in pvw so its always at a premium and normally shit, even when I tell him I can get much better cheaper on forums. His wheels for example cost like £500 and were fucking gash even tho I told him I could get his a set of borbet A's that he liked for less than that. The result is his car owes him like 5k and you can't even see where the money has gone, that's now shot up as he's taken out a loan to do a vr6 conversion in it and his wheels no longer fit the car

Insurance is a nice person though...

I've got 3 clean years but I'm still paying £138 a month on a 1.3 MK3 breadvan... Paying more this year on that than i did last year on the coupe with engine mods

I pay less then that with no ncb and I'm 19
