Switch is the cause, change this and it should work.

Glad that made sense lol and what switch is that mate

Indicator stalk.

When you push the stalk down ( to indicate left ) normally, does it still make the ticking sound? Or does that only happen when you push it further down?

No it's only when I push it down futher it ticks

I'd say it's most likely the stalk then.

Ok now the question is how to I get it off? Is there a easy way?

Nope.

Steering off I'm afraid. Would recommend workshop as you have to deal with airbag.

PoloD.

Thought that might be the case is it easy to do your self?

Can be done yourself, my mate just did it on his passat estate, took a while but its possible. Airbag bit is scary tho.

just disconnect the battery....

Ok sorta sounds easy enough just don't have a clue how to take the steering wheel off lol

To get the steering wheel off it's 2 Allen bolt . 1 either side near the indicators stalks, at the back of the steering wheel. These detach the airbag. If you remove the airbag THE KEYS DO NOT GO NEAR THE IGNITION as this will mean the airbag light stays on.

Thn there is iirc a 19mm bolt. Undo this and remove the retaining clip. Then get a marker pen and make a mark on the steering wheel part near the spline. Make the mark on the spline and steering wheel, this helps aligning it when putting it back on, so make it a good mark.

Then just wiggle it violently until it comes off. But be careful as it could take out your teeth.
