There is far too many variables for me to give a definite answer; it depends what model, engine size, any modifications, who's on the policy, what kind of policy, where you live, where the car is kept etc etc etc. A stock Mk2 or Mk3 would probably be best for insurance in general but like I said there is many variables that can affect insurance.

This should clear up the various versions for you:

Mk1 = Mk1

Mk2 = Mk2

Mk3 = MK2F

Mk4 = 6n

Mk5 = 6n2

Mk6 = 9n

Mk7 = 9n3

Mk8 = Mk8/6R

Nope i called up a few companys they said i an as i have been quoted 1000 for my beetle, so want to try a polo as I'm selling the beetle

my cars only 26 years old and some of the polos are about 20 so they may qualiify ill see :)

My saloon qualifies as its 28 years old. But they are getting harder to find now at that age as they begin to rust. If you do find one, be prepared to pay a lot for it, thus probably meaning you may not be able to afford insurance

Hi mate, Its me, bloody speed bumps, from VZi. The polo you want is a Mk2f(mk3) Coupe. Made from 1991 to 94. Your spare 700 should get you a pretty decent one.

Oh, and thats a mk3 (mk2f) in the picture. its also a coupe. You wont find a classic one of those. The oldest ones are 21 years old
