Engine oil for a Gti?

My service indicator has just come up so I'm gonna give it a service,oil filter etc,just wondered what the correct oil should be.Its a 2001 polo Gti. Gonna do gearbox oil too,I'm assuming that would be normal EP80/90 gearbox oil.

you can use either 10w 40 or 15w 40... 8-) if you ever want to double check...you can use the opie oils website and select your vehicle and see what they recommend.

Or of course, 5w/40 SM which is what i use.

Gear oil is 75w/90 synthetic from factory, but given that they break, i use the 80w/90 hypoid the unit was originally designed to use.

millers oils also reccomend 5w40 for them too. id be tempted to go with him on the gear oil aswell, it just means the oil will be slightly thinner when cold so it should circulate around that little bit better. :thumbsup:
