mk2 polo loon

Featured Replies

So after a hopeful bid on a mk2 loom and a 700 mile round trip I am now the proud owner of a mk2 saloon.

Only gonna go for small exterior mods and at some point hoping to bike carb it. Anyone that has done this and has tips I'd be grateful.=)

So, had it about a month now and managed to get it lowered on friday. Only problem atm is that the exhaust seems to be sagging in the middle and sparking off everything. It's on all its mounts too so unsure of what to do next.=\

Anyway, this was just meant to say hi. I'll put some pics up later when i can find them.

It was a daft ebay bid. Ha! Thought I'd get out bid and didnt. Replaced the rear rubbers when I got it coz it decided it didn't like having its exhaust on on the drive back! Spat the back box off 3 times on the way home! Ha!

haahaa jokes! maybe you could heat the hagars up and bend them a bit to tuck it up more?

Its probley just down to a low quality exhaust, cheap ones are never the correct shape..

Post some Pics up!

I'm on my phone atm and all my photos are on my pc. I've put one up in the "single photo" thread coz i could get that one off Photobucket.=)

Also how crap is the rear exhaust mount design? I've swapped the o rings for centre runners and they seem to be staying on better.

look after this car like it is was your own child!

saloons are becoming rarer and rarer these days so dont let it get ruined :)

ah, the old i'll get outbid thing. I put in a ridiculous offer on my car when it was on the bay, within seconds he accepted.

I then looked at the distance. Fuck 300miles away.

the loon looks like a nice base.

Yeah I'm planning on keeping it fairly standard. Just lowered and tidy it up a bit.

Body work is pretty good really. Surface rust below front bumper and a few small bits of laquer [spelling?] peel around the locks and couple of chips on the roof but all in all good car.

Just got a couple of questions, lowered the car on friday and since have a knock on pasenger side front checked. all the bolts/nuts and everything is tight, so just wondering what it could be? thinking its the anti roll bar joint as it took a proper beating to get it off. would this sound right?

Also what size steels came standard? Was thinking about putting on some BMW bottletops I got for my last car, 14x6J, but when i was lowering it I found out my steels are 13x5.5J so don't think I'll bother.

You could put the bottletops on, just run lower profile tyres with a 175 or 185 width

Look under your bonnet and at the suspension struts. Notice anything about the cups for the top nut on the strut? I bet it's lifted. That will be the cause of your knocking. Happens to almost every polo lowered on a kit.

I would have thought it would have been on both sides if it was the cups. I'll have look though. Cheers.

It's am 80mm drop all round. It has got a bit of reverse rake atm but not bothered just yet as they haven't had chance to settle yet. If its still reverse in a month then I might have a look and see if I can do anything.
