1999 polo brake part?

Featured Replies

Right, I snapped one of my wheel bolts a while ago, and one of the threads has also gone. So i typed in my reg on euro car parts and they brought up the ones that would fit, so i ordered a new one.

When i got it i realised its different to the one thats on my car atm, cause its all 1 piece, whereas my current one has the outer drum shell, then the bit behind that, which holds the wheel bearing and the bolts go through the outer shell and screws into. (if that makes sense)

So today i went to a scrap yard and got a drum (which seemed a little bit different as was all 1 piece and it had a split pin and needle bearing inside the actual shell) but i thought it should fit anyway. But it turns out it doesnt as the needle bearing and other bits dont fit over my thread.

So my question is, does anyone know what the part is that sits behind the drum shell, and the axle is called? Its a circle shape, and it slides onto the axle and has 4 holes in it for the wheel bolts, and has the wheel bearing inside it.

it's a 1999 6n, so its pretty late which i think is the reason its so different to all of the earlier 6n drums.

Please help :(

Nah, its not the actual outer drum shell, its the part behind that.

I know it sounds weird, i'll try and find a picture..

the part will be called the hub. later polos have different drums to that picture.

changed picture to the 1999 model.

his obviously has the different drums, the picture for something like 2003 is probably like his

Got it at last

1999 6n appears to have two different rear axles.

One with bearing in the brake drum and this one with a hub the drum bolts on to, that also seems to allow discs to be fitted.
