Alright, I have a mk2f and the headlights come on with the side lights, it has had a uprated harness for the headlights but they've used 4 relays and that's confusing me abit, but I don't get it as when the engine is off the side lights come on and the next click the headlights come on, but when the cars running the headlights are on when only the side lights are ment to be on

Hope someone can help as I need this done els I can't mot my car :(

Need to disconnect the dim dip resistor.

Look up by the fusebox there should be a white plug with yellow wires, just disconnect it.

And it wont be an MOT fail as they just need to test the sidelights with the engine off, on a standard loom the headlights come on to half power when you have the engine running with sides on.

Oh I'll have alook but isn't that ment to be plugged in, or must be removed when you uprate the headlight loom? I also want to rebuild the light loom as it's messy and I want the relays moved and use only 2 relays not the 4

the dim dip will confuse the new relayed harness. Because as standard, the dipped beams come on at half power with the sidelights, however when you put a relay in the mix, it won't give just half power, because that half power is powering the relay and that is giving full power to the bulbs.

It's not an mot fail, as stated above however some testers may get a bit funny. Best bet is to unplug it.

With the harness, 4 relays is a bit over kill. 2 is more than enough.

4 relay is better/safer than 2 but as said is slightly overkill.

Just unplug it, if you had HID's you have to unplug it as well, the voltage is enough to trigger the relay.

Ok sweet I havnt had a look yet, do I just use one side of the headlight wires to each relay and just remove the other 2 wires to the other headlight?

That's right, you only need one feed from the battery and one trigger and earth from one side. Sam for bot dipped and main.

Ok good stuff, do you no where to buy the metal pins on the h4 plug so I can replace them with all new wiring

Yup, motor factors.

They have complete ceramic plugs which are pre wired. Some may stock the terminals but some may not. Iirc they are 13mm spade connectors. Explain what your doing and they should understand and help out, if they don't then try another place as they probably don't know what they are.

Last time i saw a ceramic bulb holder was on H2 fitment bulbs found on the hella grills, and before that re-wiring a 1940's bike.

It says ceramic on the box, but what it says and what it is are 2 different things.

But none the less they are available

Sweet sorted it just need welding and pipes sorted before mot now
