Theres some new rule come into paly, as well as the 2 year speeding one...if you have any kind of accident within your 1st 6 months of driving you have to retake your test....found that out after some girl who passed like last month ran into my dads car then pleaded not go through insurance because she didnt want to retake her test so she has got her dad to pay for all the repairs to my dads car lol.

So anyone that only just passed their test or are close to taking it then be careful!! U may have to do the whole thing again...unless you had to take 2 tests

you get a two year probation thing where if you get 6points or more your licence gets taken away and you have to retake all yur tests and have a ban on your license and thats is as far as i know... can anyone back this up ??

And i never said anything about if they crash into you, in that case I'm guessing the rules are different

nope definate bullshit considering 3 weeks after passing my test (this january) i crashed and was completely to blame and funily enough i didnt have to retake my test. i dont no where some of this stuff comes from but its highly amusing to read!

i agree with you phillyt, what she said is a load of shit! i passed in january and haven't had any crashes etc. loads of people i know have crashed and none of them had to retake their test!!

From a police standpoint - I've never heard of this. (The crash in 6 months thing)

The only way that would happen if she's been given 6 points as a result of the crash.

Also, the £300 pounds not to go through the insurance is good, becuase she probably wont have to pay the massive excess on her own insurance

does it matter then if u crash you are car into a tree? i ditched my clio (thank god) with in 11days of passing my test september the 27th last year. i was only third party so didnt get no insurance money

i passed a few months ago, thought it was piss easy, but the tester was tired think he missed half of my mistakes, it was 8 in the morning!

Thing is, unless you pass your test 100% legitimately, even though you reeeeeeally wanna just get out and drive, you can't say you're ready enough to do it on your own, therefore probably a danger.

If I fail my first attempt, I'll be gutted but It's all part of learning. If I don't pass, I'm not yet good enough and I'd be putting myself up to a lot if I passed falsely.

passing the test is the easy bit. Actually gaining the ability to drive a car properly comes afterwards. Many never master it (as many a reality tv show has shown)

Why are you carrying on like that? If he only passed his test a year ago he probably is a bloody good driver. The driving test is ALOT HARDER than it used to be. Did u even have to take a theory??? Cos between the hazard perception and stoopid car checks and YES an actual written test on road knowledge I'm guessing that 10% are the lot of us that passed our driving test in the last 2 years!

The point I'm making is, no one is as good a driver as they'd like to think they are, either on the day they pass their test, after five years, ten years or fifty years, you're just not.

As it happens, I had to do a theory (35/35). For reference, I passed my practical second time, first test was an old style, second was a new style, so when I say the new style test is easier, I have basis to compare. I also have a full bike license (which didn't come with my car license, or off a packet of cornflakes like a CBT does. In addition to DSA tests, I took my RoSPA Advanced Driving test about 2.5 years ago.

As far as none-examined experience goes, I had a competancy assessment for 3.5 tonne vehicles about a year ago, which was called off 15 minutes in, as the assessor said he I was way above standard. I have done off road courses, skid pan courses, and have limitted track experience. I have been drivng on the roads for 7 years (riding for 8), and currently do at least 30,000 miles a year.

As far as car checks go, they're not exactly difficult, I'll happily demonstrate any of them.

Oh, I can also drive reach and counterbalance FLT's, tractors, and god knows how many other things if I put my mind to it.

And before you say it, I consider my level of driving as "could do better".

Incidently, without looking, what's your stopping distance at 50mph?

If you lose your liscence is £108 presuming you pass first time on both parts of the test and 2 months of carlessness.

Apply for new liscence takes 2 weeks

booking theory test 2 weeks

practical test 4 weeks

I think some 'Get your tits out' requests are needed to lighten the mood of this thread!

i wasnt going to reply to this thread but some of the comments saying I'm a better driver because I've recently passed my test is bulls**t, i dirve a 1000miles a week I'm a compatant driver but i see kids driving around some who think the road is there own race track some just haven't a clue how to use there mirrors not all but most people who've just past there test are terible drivers good driving comes woth experiance why do you think you pay more for insurance!
