Looks like the rear gearbox mount needs modifying to get it sitting nice in that one but other than that looks like a nice fit

Can't believe it hasn't been mentioned but VR6 Corrado?

Awesome looks

easy to get good handling!

Comfiest car ever, can't ever get cramp..

:) :)

Yeah but much more pricey than a Golf, but for good reason I suppose.

What's the insurance like on them?

Probably more expensive as they really dear to insure due to being a coupe

VR6 rado is what I would get. Basically a MK2 chassis with better looks, interior and a VR6 engine.

About group 18 insurance though.

I always keep looking at putting one in my rocco but going to go down the 16v route instead. not as much weight over the front. i agree in regards to the rado, much better looking car, comfier and all that aswell.

And Eurowise in north carolina have started mass producing mk1 VR mounts for reasonable money.

no longer as awkward as it once was bolt up and away you go

Half mk3 and half passat really :)

Arun, your mk3 was a awesome! We could hear you coming from about 5miles away even with your "stealth exhaust" haha!

I used to have a healthy running mk2 16v was just over 150hp and my mate had a vr6 mk3 auto. Thrashed it all the way to stealth engineering for a rolling road shoot out. We were neck and neck on top end but he had the edge still both did 140plus anyway so not bad. I cant remember doing any standing starts but it was still a quick vr6 and they sound nice. I've seen a Mk2 vr6 conversion the other week and from fire wall to the back of the head is a hell of alot of space for a big big turbo ;)

Another car you might be interested in is lexus IS200's there very cheap 1k up packed full of toys, straight 6 noise, rwd, 6speed box bit poncy but decent car and great for motorway miles.

I <3 my VR6.

The sound they make is incredible.

That said, if I was looking at mk3 Golfs, I'd probably be tempted to plump for a rado instead...

All Mk3's are big fat lumps.. esp VR's.. I hate on mk3's because I hate them. they are the worst VW ever made imo!

Mk2 16v/ABF etc or Rado VR

Chiiill Winstaaaan..!

personally i dont think i would endure the financial battering that a 6 cylinder engine does to your wallet for something as 'meh' as a mk3 golf

a vr6 corrado on the other hand...

Audi Coupe V6? It's VAG, it's a coupe, it's got 6 cylinders and it's £1000 cheaper.

Easy to get good handling too.... that's what Quattro's for :)

Thanks for the comments all, thinking of sticking with my mk2 now after a lot of thought. Might modify it to make it feel different and give the engine a bit of a tune up.

When I've got more money I'll try out a 6 cylinder. Or as some of you suggested, put a VR6 in a mk2.

I had a 2.6 V6 coupe for a while and it was a good little car for peanuts, I paid less than £400 for it with tax and test, half leather and not much rust to speak about.

Comfy as hell to cruise about it, wasn't 'that' bad on fuel and in the higher revs on full throttle sounded awesome!

I've had a go in a Mk3 Golf VR6 aswell and it was nice to drive if not a bit boring.

I'd rather have an Audi Coupe, or a Corrado if you have the money.
