About to ring a scrap service to come collect my 6n, as the cost of fixing is beyond!

Just wondering the process? They take it away, and i recieve the receipt and and the certificate of destruction and money...

So basically, they give me the "C.O.D" and they're the ones to notify the DVLA?

Hi mate, all you do is have the car picked up and paid for along with a reciept, give the driver the log book. but keep section 9

There is a small part of the log book you need to fill in "section 9"yellow. and you send that away to the dvla. you will then receive confirmation from the dvla by post :) that is it

I have scrapped 3 cars now and all been done this way, i gave him the log book minus the section 9 which i sent away and jobs done :) hope this helps.

before it goes though you could check through the wanted adds to see if anyone needs anything? make your self a bit of extra cash

Clutch release bearing, possible headgasket, handbreak needs welding, valves went, exhaust has numerous wholes in, rusting, emissions. List goes on! haha

Went to two scrappies today, and both offered me £60.... Is this all a complete 6n is worth at the moment?! (que 6n jokes...haha)

£60 is a bad price tbh, few months ago I got £160 for an FTO collected.

Id settle for no less than £100, If you can, remove what will generaly sell on here, and the catalitic converter, as they go for £15-40 at the scrappies.

I scrapped my old mk2 for over £100.

I get £160/tonne for cars. If you're selling it to a breakers or someone who takes scrap, they'll pay less because they will have to cover transport costs and still make a living themselves.

I know what you mean about the travelling cost. But one was a 5 minute drive away! I said i'd get back to them but think ill avoid it.

They say "full cars only", what does this mean? Can parts such as lights, grille etc be missing? Cheers all!

they shouldnt be to bothered about plastics ect, but the more you remove the less it will weight on the scales.

if you ask them to collect it, they wont pay you for it so bear that in mind.

The car is currently SORN with no insurance or MOT. If i were to toe this by a car fully legal (MOT, tax, insurance etc) would this be ilegal still?

Sounds dumb as hell but the polo doesnt start, so power steering doesnt turn on. Can i still drive it around corners etc, isit just steering will be stiff? :s haha

yeah you will have to crack your muscles out haha will just be stiff and brakes wont really work so keep hold of handbrake n pull that up slowly to brake mayte otherwise u will go straight up the back of whos towing u lol

Oh christ, to get to the scrappy its a MASSIVE hill, and my handbreak cables snapped and the handbreak needs welding back down....

just go slow, i managed to turn my big ass volvo when been towed, just hold the brake slightly to avoid slack in the rope.

Its best using a towing bar, and i think there compulsary now.
