My mate offered me his h4 hid kit for £20 as he bought the wrong ones for his car just wondering if its worth doing it and will they look good on my 6n?

They look good but please for everyone elses sake get the beam aimed, normally they need to be aimed lower than standard bulbs.

Far too many badly fitted HID kits on the M4 at night. Cant see fuck all till after they've driven passed, even worse in the current weather.

All i can see for a few seconds after is a big dot in the middle of my eyes. Drive past a few badly fitted HID's and id probably have to pull over

Sounds about right. a few times coming back from liverpool the long way (towing a caravan) the M5 was fine, got on to the M4 at Cardiff and the amount of 8000k+ badly fitted HID's was amazing.

One guy looked like a star coming up behind, he came along side and his lights had no beam what so ever, the halogens on the passats very weathered plastic lenses were having more of an effect.

Cool thanks guys gunna buy them I think :) and yeah I know what you mean some di*k in a saxo around by me has them way to high and its a killer. The garage around the corner does all that stuff so I will take it there

£20? What have you got to lose, go for it.. I dont regret it and I spent like £75 on my set.

They dont work at all on mk2 Saxo's. I tried aiming them all ways on mine and you cant even get a beam pattern so I pulled them out, the description was "trying to look at the sun with a telescope".

They where horrificaly blinding even stood at a 45degree angle to the car.

Id leave it personaly mate, Many cheap hid kits just have scattered light everywhere, police are clamping down on them along with fog light abusers thankfully.

I thought up to 6000k were legal? If not then I'm not putting them in already had one fine for lights in my old car the day I bought it I got pulled for them being so blue

Just rumors with police as far as I'm aware, i think some are nice people some are fine about it :/

6000k is OEM to most manufacturers.

As said just drop them.

Cant wait for the fog light abusers to start getting done, another pet hate of mine.

My understanding was, hids are legal when fitted to lights that have auto adjusters and/or jets to clean them, maybe wrong but that's what i thought

yes on the headlamp washing there should be some wash mechanism but there are a few loopholes in regards to the need for auto adjusters (we can thank VOSA for those)

Technically you should have auto leveling but the new regulations means if you have stiff suspension you don't need them.

Well the car is coming off the road this weekend as I have now lost my job so its gunna give me loads of time to do the stuff I have wanted to do but can't have the car off the road long enough to do it so over the next few months its gunna have a shed load of work and maybe even a full respray

Well I'm thinking of going back to college to train to be a proper mechanic now anyway and work for my uncle then instead of in a bookies lol. And I'm only in barry so its not long to get to cardiff if I have to find work there. But I now have a lot of filler fiber glass and sand paper so loads of smoothing as long as it stays dry
