As my dad found out last winter. He poured a load of warm water over the screen on his T25 (they have massive screens) It cleared it but the water froze almost immediatley, leaving a rock solid thick ice sheet. It took 10 minutes of hacking to get it off

One of my old GTs had all the coolant frozen up, I just waited for the thing to overheat and melt it all.

(It was getting scraped soon and i didnt give a f...)

Last year was great fun in my house! :)

My dads car wouldnt do more than 56MPH or it would go into limp due to the cold weather and i found the 145's on the polo great at getting me places :)

Was one of the only cars on my road to go out every day!

is it best to keep steelies with the thin tyres on rather than wheels with stretched tyres?

I guess thin tyres on steelies as you dont want to slip into anything and kill your wheels and take the tyres off the rim :

Thin wheels and tyres will be better in the snow, better pressure due to less surface area

i cant fooookin wait! i just hope it does actually snow. itd be more fun if the polo was on the road though

It only really makes a difference in deeper snow, but thinner tyres are better than wider. Think rally cars, they have waay skinny tyres for snow stages.

A good tip i used when i had my polo to stop the locks freezing up.

Get a small can of WD40 and when you lock the car spray the key both sides with it before locking. The WD40 displaces the water so your locks don't freeze and you can get the key in.

Its alright for some, literally every town and villiage around chesterfield got snow and we didnt :( i dont get how but it must look like a polo mint from the sky!

As you are pouring the water you just flick the wipers on to get rid of the remaining water before it freezes. I dont understand how so many people have a problem doing this, its worked for me every time.

buy some de-icer? or put tarpaulin on the screen overnight. when my mk2 developed a crack in the screen I used a tarpaulin to not let it ice over and make the screen worse.

I'm gettin one of them sun deflector things you put on inside your windscreen, but I'm putting it on the outside! Works wonders! Hardly any scraping or anything!

Other than that just usual sensible stuff! Extra coats, socks and shoes just incase I get stuck somewhere, sleeping bag, few rations of nutri grain bars, jump leads

On tip if you get stuck in snow you can let your tyres down abit to help you! You'd be amazed how many people I tell every year that don't know that!!

had mine for 2yrs now, i take my car off the road and use this instead for a few months so i dont ruin my other car, only paid £600 and in my eyes its paid fo itself now, its loaded up with just about everything that people have mentioned and a bit more lol, seriously tho people, for thoes who can afford to its well worth it and just allternate your tax between cars

man......, I'm the only one who doesnt care if i get stuck, I find it more of a challenge.

Just got a Volvo 850 5cyl, its a heavy tank to be honest.

Went on the cat and fiddle tonight (police have closed it) and ended up going down Goyt Valley, very steep hills with snow over my bumpers, i got down and up with ease, compared to all the saxos and polos that needed the park ranger to tow them up.

same. sleeping bag and thermal blanket lives in the boot in winter as does a small gas burner, kettle, mug, tea bags, long life milk (may need defrosting), sugar

word of warning, nutrigrain bars freeze

Got told we cant keep the First responder bags, AED and gas in the cars if it get too cold

don't eat yellow snow
