Alright guys, I've been about for a while but never got the chance to start a thread.

Not that my car's overly interesting, but anyway.

I need my car for towing the motocrosser so i'm limited to what i can really do with it. So it'll be interesting enough to see how it works out.

Specs:

Engine: Completely standard 1.0 8v (with multipoint injection, for those extra fractions of BHP)

Exterior: Standard again apart from 6n2 rear lights and debadged, dewipered, pressed alloy plates.

Suspension: Recently dropped a bit with FK uprated shocks and 60/40 springs.

Wheels: 14x6.5 BBS non split rims (possibly RZ, i don't know)

Other than that, i have my towbar for towing the trailer, extra scene points in the agricultural department.

I won't bore you with pics of the standard car, it's a standard 6n.

I'll stick a few up the way she sits now.

Before BBS and suspension etc:

New rear lights, badge sprayed, dewipered, cleaned:

And hold on here i can't get my photo of the finished car up yet, snapbucket is a lot of shite. Should have it up later.

But there you go it's started at last!

And straight after a wash the other night, with the BBS rims! they fit a bit better but still need smaller tyres.

i dont understand why people buy lowering kits for 6n's when coilovers are so cheap :s

He's said he's towing his motorcross bike so I don't think slamming it would be practical for him, which is why I'm guessing he's got the springs ^

Looks good though man, some nice subtle touches

Because decent shocks and springs ride far better than cheap coilies?

Yeah i know, coilovers were an extra 20 quid and i would have got full adjustability but sacrificed ride comfort

Slamming it is far from practical, towing through mucky fields with no power can be challenging with a foot of ground clearance.

Sorry but people aren't right, coilovers are daft! I need a car for practicality.

Anyway, wee update: Got a brand new set of worn tyres, they're slightly narrower/lower profile and allow for full lock and less scrubbage.

Here is the front of the car, excuse the 'GTI' stripes it was a daft idea which i never fixed.

And the splitter is painted green.

Quick update, got myself handed a Votex spoiler fresh in its box! Unfortunately it's red so i will give it a lick of paint.

I need glue for it though, what does everyone recommend?

TigerSeal get it on and glued and put some tape over it to hold it in place for 24 hours.

Couldn't of said it better myself! Definitely tigerseal! They offer all different colours and a clear option for the glue these days! (You can get it on ebay) :)

Cool! I'll see if the local parts/bodyshop have something like this on the way home from work!

On another note, (pun coming up) I'm considering fixing my exhaust.

And when i say fix, it's not really broken. The centre box has a little rattle which makes the whole car sound a bit daft. I went to an Powerflow exhausts garage and they said they could cut it out and weld a pipe in its place for around £30. Either that, or the whole centre section could be replaced for £50 or £60.

This leaves me with two options: Quiet and clean sounding, for 60 quid, or potentially very noisy and attention attracting for 30.

My question is though, how much louder will removing the centre silencer be? I don't want people thinking my car is fast.

Alright, little update.

Got my spoiler painted. Still haven't had time to leave it glued for 24 hours, but it's painted and ready to go on.

And i just decided to go for the exhaust, removed the centre silencer: £40 for half an hour's work and oh boy she sounds lovely but isn't too loud at all! Win

What size tyres you running out front? Just i have the same rims I'm needing some rubber for. They fit well, by the looks of it?

Cheers! The towbar is for My '76 Maico 250. It towed that and a KTM 125 once, but the towbar nearly came off the back off the car.

The tyres up front are 165/55 R14

The wheels (just to be sure) are 14"x6.5" with an et of 30!

Will they fit.com is an excellent webpage for this sort of stuff.

Haha, well noticed! I know what you mean man, if your bike isn't 2011/2012 you aren't fast apparently.

In fact, everyone had flat bars until they realised they weren't good for steep tracks. Now they're all back to risers, and i still have the flats. I prefer them so aye, old bike, crap parts, silly handlebars, and i still ain't too slow.
