Right, i am trying to get my car Mot'd tomorrow and hopefully it will pass, but if it doesnt pass am i able to drive it home and then get it repaired at another time and then get it retested. My Mot doesnt run out until the 7th december.

Bit of a grey area but I believe you are allowed to drive to a test centre, then if it fails drive directly to a garage or place to repair the car (providing its not been deemed dangerous).

I have done exactly that and got pulled once on the return trip after failing the MOT on the way to repair it.

Got told its kinda pushing the boundaries of what is allowed but as the car failed on minor things I was allowed to continue.

also my steering wheel is a little bit off centre and where someone hit the back of my car it is dented in a bit, this can only be seen from inside the boot but will these be a fail or just be an advisory or what?

you can take the car to a place of repair without an MOT, driving it home for "repair" is the gray area.

Your allowed to drive from place of keeping to the MOT centre and place of repair but if they pull you on the way to MOT/Repair with a fresh Maccy D's on the passenger seat then they can do you.

How the copper explained it to me when I got pulled on the way to the centre for a retest, my MOT station was next to where i worked but 28miles from my house, the welder i had it booked into was 2 miles away from my house.

so was a bit of a round trip and the copper was happy with my explanation of why I couldn't MOT it at the local garages, tried 4 diffrent garages and all refused to MOT my car due to height. 1 garage I couldn't even get in to the test centre due to the huge steep step up into the test bay.

right i bit the bullet and just took it for an mot, and it passed without any advisories! i never should have doubted it haha :-D didnt need to worry in the end
