The Good bad and ugly:

As title, the car has had a lot of work done in the last year or so. I've given it new HT leads, dizzy, rotor, filters, plugs, air intake, pedal box and finally a new clutch last week. The engine and gearbox are solid and the interior is very clean. The car is completely original and un-molested and has been given all she needs mechanically. The only issues are some damage to the rear arches from the Mrs miss judging the parking. I am only selling as the Mrs now needs an auto and a friend is selling an E36 316 auto and I just can't resist. no mot or tax so it will need to leave on a trailer. No real issues with rust. It is in MK16.

No tax no mot??

£650 is a bit strong as you can get a good one thats road legal for far less.Ill offer you £200 and ill have the wheels off it and send it over the weighbridge.sorry to be harsh but it certainly aint no looker lol

I could have sold it with tax and ticket and no clutch and all the original problems but that would have cost the buyer a lot to get right just to pay the tax and ticket again. I am just covering the cost of repair and not selling a lemon. you might not think it's a looker but it runs like a dream and making it look better in your opinion would cost nothing.

Ok well my offer still stands,If it is a good a car as you say why not mot it??

I just wanted to sell it ASAP before the BMW gets sold.

Not to sound rude, but.. your asking way to much! I asked for 750, for my turbo DIESEL mk3 golf, with coilovers, alloy wheels, mk4 front end , with tax n test, 111k full service history, lots of interest no money, so decided to keep it. But for a car, which is standard, and has dents all over, with not tnt. 650 is alot! You can pick up gti's for that price, with tnt!

The forum asks for a price, I put up how much I want for it, now people are meant to tell me how much they want to pay. If you don't want the car then keep your opinions to your self. I see over priced crap on the web all the time but I don't go around bitching about it, I make an offer or move on. Not every one wants the same lowered smoothed or modified car. Look at the top of the page , DO NOT RESPOND TO AN ADVERT UNLESS YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BUYING!!!

I agree with tricks

If an MOT is what it needs then I will get one. I Can't tax it as it's no-longer insured. If any one wants it without the MOT they are welcome to make an offer.

To be fair mate... I've just brought a mint mk3 golf, 12 months MOT... still had tax, 77,000 miles for £700. You're way out with your price! Just MOT it... if it's as good mechanically as you say then it's only 50 quid to test it!

So if it has an MOT is it then worth £650 or am I still asking too much?

I think that's fair! I just sold my mk3 polo, no offers without MOT... spend £170 just getting it road worthy and it sold within the week!

Aren't these 100hp 1.6 golfs quite rare? I remember hearing somewhere that they were better to drive than the gti 8v

They are very rare, it took a long time to find parts. I couldn't find one in a breakers yard. The car has an AFT engine in mint condition it is let down, very slightly by the dents and scratches. In my humble opinion it's a fantastic drive the best 8v I've been in.
