Ok so here she is....

1996 1.4 8v

3dr

completely standard for now .....

I only bought this 2 weeks ago and I'm chuffed to bits :) I have been waiting nearly a year to buy this and now shes all mine

Long story short ...... it was bought from a guy in belfast for some familys daughter(14) who lost interest and so she parked it up ....... it has been sat for just under a year in a beautiful warm shed :) untill now

NCT(MOT) just out on the 5th of Dec, no tax

Central locking

Electric windows sunroof and so on

here is the good bit ...........

Here in Sunny Ireland(you RIGHT) its hard to find a car with little mileage for small money... only you fortunate fellow Englishmen have that....

so she only has 50k miles up on her and only cost me €200 (£175) :) a dream come true if you ask me ......

So what does everyone think ??

I'm thinking MAYBE and only maybe a colour change to ST Orange or a real nice Metallic green like Monster colour????005.jpg good or bad comments i dont mind :)

Just decided to mess around with the grille while I'm waiting for my badgeless............... Opinions???????????????

0022.jpg

I did that with mine, ended up immediately straightening it again.

Things like clear indicators and 6n2 rear lights make these cars a lot more pleasing to look at.

Personally i'd keep it Dragon Green, but i'm biased towards that colour :)

Other than that, i find that on here your car has to be scraping the ground with wheels sticking out past the bodywork to be cool.

But on a sensible note, 200 notes sounds like a deal and a half!

Got mine for 400 in a similar condition, except with MOT etc.

At the end of the day you look around for ideas, but do what you want. As above you don't have to slam it to the ground to join in. Got to remember alot of people go to shows hence why they run so low etc etc etc.

Good point sir, anyone can join in, but the general comments towards a standard 6n (or most polos really) is 'get that sitting low'

I'm not a fan of sump polishing myself, my car is lowered sensibly (if there is such a thing).

Well i do have coillies on order also and yes they are ebay speacials but they do the same as the top dollar 1's, the trouble is not many people do the same thing with a polo as the UK so sourcing things here are very difficult i pretty much have to buy everything brand new to get what i want as not many people are getting rid of the bits id want....

I hear a few people on here talking about a 'non genuine 16v bumper' where do i find these coz thats the next thing to be ordered...

mike i think your right i will keep the colour for now only thing is that there are a few dents and scrapes(minor but up close you can see them) so i want to fill these and fix up all the body work....

will be booked for the test on monday just so that is out of the way ...

:)

Jamie

Me to, I have about 2 finger gap all the way around so I think thats about 60mm as there are wayyyyy to many Speed Bumps for it to be practical

Hey all no update just yet only washed it and took some pics now she clean but could somebody tell me if a camo' themed polo has been done before as in army style ?????

Only I'm thinking of re-trimming my headliner and pillars in camo and going down a Euro army theme...

Any ideas and opinions    :)

Thanks

Jamie

You need to remove the assister springs and bumpstops of the coilies you will buy- then fit them and then need a notch, then nothc it and go lower... then, and only then will you be cool ;) haha

I haven't even lowered my daily, it came on coilovers so I stripped em off and sold them.

Camo it, just get some vinyl and go for it.

theres been a few camo themed ones....mostly i remember one on here where the interior was totally camo'd and most notably is McCanns mk4 polo which is also in ireland and that is "military" based

both should be found by using the search function

Well no real pdate yet as I'm still waiting for a few ebay specials :( ..... only now it seems like a new front drivers hub is needed as the disc securing screw decided to sheer off and now the rest of it is sitting nicly in the hub...... any ideas on how to get this f**kin thing out before i get a new 1 from the scrappy or is that the easiest option????

got a lovely sum of moolah today so ebay will be paid another visit for goodies....

Does many people send things to ireland from the 'for sale' section on here??? I've looked at a few things but need to know how to pay you guys :) :) :)

Ok guys, please can somebody help me here, it may sound completely stupid me asking these questions but i genuinely need some help.......

Ok long story short the hub bearings are being replaced and the hub obviously has to come off.!!

This was fine undoing everything BUT......

When everythin was loosened and removed the hub took a fair 'WHACK' and didnt want to come off :(

What happened was the C.v joint inside the boot had separated and left the driveshaft looking like somewhat of a compound fracture :(

Anyway after inspection i could see there was a little tear in the boot so i need a new 1...

so i undid the c.v boot clip and removed the hub and outer c.v joint as a whole and took it to the bench and hit the centre of the shaft and it came straight out leaving me with the hub in 1 hand and the joint in the other...

not thinking i just pushed the joint back onto the driveshaft and it popped back on but i just read about the circlip and thrustwasher...... surly these need replacing ??????????

the yellow box is the tear

the green line is roughly where it separated

and the red arrow indicates the way it fell as in toward me ?????????

DSCF5068-1.jpg

This all may sound silly but I'm the kind of person who is hands on and want to 'give it a go' and try fix somethin myself ....

no harm in tryin ay'

Please give me some advice as I'm mad to get this all sorted and ready for the test :)

Thanks in advance

Jamie

when i did mine that just what i did . knocked um off with a hammer and just pushed um back on bud no circlips or anything . i got that c.v kit from ebay and there on my car now working fine bud . hope that helps you . Dave
