Been on this forum for a few months now and some progression with my first car has taken place so I thought I'd make a thread to see what you all think and any suggestions you might have.. Bought the car back in september with the idea of euroing it in my head but I know it's going to take a while yet. Here's what i've done so far:

The standard car, 1.4l (except for a stubby ariel)

Then I decided to lose the wheeltrims and tidy up the steelies because I thought it wouldnt be worth getting alloys for the winter..

I wasn't a fan of the plain black steelies so I painted a red ring around the outside of them to match the car. Was pretty happy with the way they turned out

Painted the middle of the rear badge and debadged the polo off of the back of it to make it look cleaner. Might black out the badge but haven't decided yet

Got a gti grill and painted the bottom grills satin black to match abit better because they were quite faded

How she is sitting now after lowering and taking off the mudflaps.

I've also got a sony gt550 unit and an armageddon sub on the inside.

Plans are to get alloys (eventually) or maybe some banded steels, touch up the paintwork abit and do some interior work; maybe some carbon wrapping.

Small update, got myself another cupholder from the scrappy seeing as I dont use the coin tray

and I also got given a gearknob by my mate but I'm having a bit of trouble fitting..

Took the gear knob and gaiter off so all thats left is the bar to which they are attached

This is the gearknob which I've taken off the gaiter

The new one (nothing special):

The grub screws will lock onto the bar fine but then there is the problem of how i attach the gaiter to the gearknob.. Am I missing a part of the new gearknob which allows me to attach the gaiter to it? I cant work out how to do it so any help is appreciated :-)

Also did a graphic koolart sort of drawing of my car with the wheels I want in photoshop. I was pretty bored and its not the best, but..

With that cupholder did you take out the coin tray individually and put a single cupholder in it's place or replace the whole thing with two cupholders?

Just asking cos i'm not sure how to take out one of the cupholders if this is possible.

You have to take the whole unit out and then pop the little clips up and slide each coin tray/cup holder out individually and slide a new one in. Hope this helps.

Yeah you have to prise a screwdriver under the clips and then push them upwards and at the same time slide the tray out. Its easier with two people as it can be a bit of a pain to get each tray out.

It looks a lot better from the top and when you cant see all the scratches but it looks like I'm sticking with the original anyway because I cant mount the new one.

Really easy. Just slip the gaiter off the plastic ring/square at the bottom and then put a screwdriver in the small gold coloured clip that you can see in photo 3 of the ones you quoted and open it out which should allow the gaiter and gearknob to slide up as one. Then I just yanked off the gaiter from the gearknob..

Few pics of my car from VW Action last weekend. Got a new gaiter, pressed plates and some crystal clear indicators. Nothing special but will be running on 15" alloys soon when I've finished refurbing them.

Wasn't really looking for a car at the time but I was searching eBay for cars as you do and found this little gem.

55k miles on the clock, full service history, long tax and test and very close to me at a good price. So after I checked the finances, decided it was a viable proposition and brought it home a couple of days later. I drove it round as standard for a couple of months until my new insurance policy kicked in and the modding began

So far i've:

Debadged it

Fitted my stereo and sub

Colour coded the rear badge (badly, will be redone)

Two cupholder mod

Fitted Wolfsburg doorpins

Lowered it on KW Variant 1 Inox

Fitted a BMC CDA

How I wanted it to sit after the coilovers went on but there was wayy too much scrubbing

How it sits now

On to the negative :( I came home one night to find both my windows had dropped and the motors had gone so not thinking about it at the time, I duct taped a plastic sheet over both windows and sat it up for a couple of weeks till I got new motors. Unfortunately when I took the sheet off the lacquer was knackered in multiple places and not just where the duct tape was. So it looks like a full respray is in order! I'm gutted due to how good condition this was in before the motors broke!

Have got some plans for this but any suggestions/comments are appreciated, cheers :)
