I have been searching for ages to try and find a few replacement panels for my MK3 saloon, but to no avail. Even on german ebay etc.

The rear arches on my saloon are at a point where they ideally need a replacement panel fitted to make them look better, but no-one seems to do them anymore. I can find the Breadvan version, but this doesn't fit for obvious reasons.

The only solution i can think of atm is using front arches to fit on the back as they seem to be the same shape/contour. MK3 front archs are only 3/4 archs where as mk2 fronts go all the way and would be better suited AFAIK.

I'm going to want to run no archs at some point so i want it to look good, plus I don't want a bodge job/massive labour cost as it will be the paint shop that will be sorting this out for me.

I have also heard of people putting Corrado archs on to give a wider arch and more room for wider wheels?

Nope, although they dont list any parts on there for a Polo, if you search their site it does come up with a few random ones, but they are all for the really early mk1 polo stuff.

they don't do rear arches yet...

you can get the mk1 ones but they are not the same shape. You can get the whole rear quarter from VW still but be prepared to spend £300-400 for it.

So the only option is custom make/repair the rear arches or use mk2 fronts to make them up

we use a company in leeds called mount panels, we had some rears for a customers car 2yrs ago but not sure about front, try google them, if you cant find them then ill get the number from work

You can get genuine replacement panels from VW Classic Parts (a V.A.G. operation) which are also available through VWHeritage.

Pricy mind: Whole panels are £410ea or sections (front half, rear half) for about £250ea.

If you're going down this route, it can take them a while to arrive as the classic parts operation are moving warehouses....

what about lopping a decent rear wing off a breaker?

On that note how similar are coupe arches to saloon arches?

If you have the part number then it will be on VW Heritage. They didn't have my front fogs on there for my 2F, but I put part number in and it came straight up :)

Yep...received a rear quarter for my coupe this way. Actually worked out cheaper than ordering direct from Vw Classic Parts in Germany, despite coming from the same place.

I know you could get a full rear 1/4 panel as I got one from my local VW dealer, I think mine was 275. But I didn't know you could get the in 'repair' sections.. Would have made repairing the inner arch much easier as I would have used one of them rather custom making it! :)

They only differ at the rear of the arch, right at the bottom.

I probably should have been a bit clearer. When I say they come in two halves, it is effectively one full rear quarter, cut it half from 12 o'clock on the wheel arch and top of the C pillar. This is only applicable to the saloon rear quarters. Coupe and hatches only come as full panels.

If you still want the part numbers, I can dig them out for you?
