Recently decided to get myself a vw and before long i had this sat on the drive :-)

Came with no mot or tax but took it for a mot today and it flew straight through with two small advisiories! :-D

Have a lot of ideas that i have in mind but due to limited funding and knowledge progress may be quite slow.

Thanks! Waiting for some half decent weather so i can give it a good clean, but there doesnt seem any major fading which is a big relief!

Whilst waiting to get the polo on the road i have added a few small touches. Quite chuffed with the difference painting the badge made, it also came with a pair of roofbars and i am in two minds whether or not to fit them.

Still haven't got round to fitting my roof bars and i have a few questions, my car is currently using quite a lot of petrol and seems to bog down occaisonally, does anyone know what could be causing this? And also, my car has an immobiliser, are these standard on mk2 breadvans? Or has mine been fitted at some point down the line? Thanks!

HELP! I was on my way to work yesterday and my engine started stuttering at 50mph and then decided to cut out completely. It started and revved but as soon as i tried to get going again it cut out. After about 10 minutes it drove away but still felt like it was stuttering occaisonally. Does anyone know why this is?

Another problem has cropped up over the past couple of days, my exhaust somehow overnight decided to snap at the bottom end of my downpipe hopefully should be fixed in the next couple of days and then i can sort out the poor running if that is still a problem, on top of all this i also need to start my christmas shopping at some point..

Starting to save up for some wheels but i understand breadvans can have problems with rubbing on the rear aches when putting wider wheels on, does anyone know what kind of size wheels will fit under the arches without rubbing? I'm planning on lowering it around 40 or 60mm eventually. Thanks and happy new year! :-D

from experience, a 6j wheel is about as wide as you can go on a bready. and even then you'd have to fit 165 or 175 tyres.

i had 6j with 185 and they rubbed at standard height!

all depends of the ET. the wheels i had were standard VW ET38.

okay thanks, I've always been tempted by banded steels but they are obviously too wide to fit on a breadvan :(

i too want banded steels but without major arch work on the rear they're not really possible :(

gutted :( so if i go for no wider than 6j i should be okay with the right tyres on?

yeah like i said, had 6j ET38 scalas and with 185s they scrubbed so should be good with 165s (thats what i'll probs be running when i can afford some more wheels)

general rule of thumb is that down 40mm will be ok with standard shocks (even then don't expect them to last!)

so down 60mm you'll be much better with uprated ones.

when i took my standard ones out they were ruined so best to change anyway :)

Oo okay thanks! Do you have any recommendations on what brand to go for? as i dont want to pay a fortune and wondered if there was any brands that were worth staying away from? Thanks
