mk5 polo stalling and not reving properly

Featured Replies

in the mornings when i turn the car on i need to push the accelerator in a little bit to stop it from dying on me, when i am driving it the throttle response isnt the best it wont respond then all of a sudden it will have a burst of power and rev up a good bit. happened to a friend and she got the plugs and leads changed but it has gotten worse for her. any advice as to what it could be and a rough price to fix it?

You may want a few more details than that.

What else do you need to know? When I got in it today it revved up to about 1200 then sat at 1000 until I moved off, when I got to the top of my street it was moving from 950-110 and seems to constantly sit close to 1000, if I put my foot down to accelerate there's a delay then it will have a burst off speed when I put my food down more

How about what engine it is ?

Based on the information so far i have a couple of suggestions:

Clean throttle body with carb/throttle body cleaner

Check for air leaks

It could be that simple.

Anybody else clarify this? Prices to fix?

If it is the throttlebody needing cleaned, do it yourself.

Buy a Haynes manual and give it a bash. It's fairly simple.
