Plans are to get her looking her best ready for ClubPolo Show!

Started today with replacing the door cards, I haven't transferred the leather over yet but I will at a later date.

Picked up a pair for £10... Walking back into the car park I spotted a £20 Note on the FLOOR!.... Picked it up and never looked around and got in car BONUS!!!

(Handle does sit correctly)

I tried 3 attempts to get my tracking done but with no success.... Guy was heating up the bolt to loosen it up but was no good. So now I'm ordering a new track rod next month and get all the tracking and alignment done. After that I will get it sitting with a proper stance not poking its nose in the air!

Started working on the Stereo today, hooked up the small tweeters on door pillars so at least they work now.

More to come soon!

looks like you have your hands full with that, what have they done to the door card where the speaker was looks like they just riped it out :(

  • Author

I think that's exactly what they did as they ripped the plastic holder which the speaker screws onto so I need to pick them up also. :(

Bargain!

Yeah looks as though he's ripped the speakers straight out! btw make sure you tape up/replace the foam sheet behind the speaker too as this will most likely let water get through!

Looking forward to seeing more progress of this :)

Yea I'm happy with it :D

Just pissed around with the TB today and now it developed the stupid Erratic Idle, I cleaned it with TB cleaner would disconnecting the battery reset ECU and help it out ?

Yeah you could try doing that bud, hopefully it should sort itself out! - If not, leave it for a day or so and it should re-learn itself automatically when driving!

Wish I just leave things alone! >.<

Edit - FIXED!

:)

Wish I just leave things alone! >.<

Haha, I second that!

Glad to hear it's sorted bud

Ok so today I thought I would attempt at taking off the TB and giving it a proper clean, worried that (pissing about with stuff again) I might sod something up but it all went rather well.

Here's the dirty little sod. (Didn't take any photos after it was cleaned but I assure you it was)

I'd taken it all off gave it a good clean, adjusted something at the back (silver clip, see near my wrist) - Does anyone know what that clip at the back actually does? (does it control the butterfly valve). Well anyway, I adjusted it myself and pushed it down ever so slightly. I also adjusted the throttle cable and noticed it was a bit more tighter after adjusting that clip but there is loads of slack in the pedal?

I think I fixed something!? - So after all that it idles LOVELY now :D. I do however get a little bit of erratic revs but its goes up then it settles again... I'm beginning to think it might be the Engine Temp Sensor.

Yesterday car came out of the garage after finally getting all my tracking and rods sorted out as they all seized up. Nice to be able to drive with a straight wheel!

Last weekend I pop of down to my local scrappy:

16v Splitter

16v Spark Plug Plastic Cover

x2 Upper 16v front bumper Grilles

x2 Headlight bulbs + Indicator Adaptors + Bulbs

Price: £8 :)

What scrapyard did you go to?

a bit of work and elbow grease will have the car looking good

if you fancy selling the bmc drop me a pm

Pease Pottage mate, and no way on the BMC I was after one of these for ages but refused to pay £150 for one, Actually glad I have one.

I'm trying with very limited funds to get the car looking half decent, its hard atm but I'm trying to get stuff done!

thats how much scrapyeards SHOULD charge. the 2 near me, i reckon would charge close to £50 for that lot! charged my mate £10 for a plastic door handle off a fiesta!

won't take too much to get it there

haha fair enough mate

sometimes it depends on who serves you at the scrappy one guy at pease tried to charge me £5 for a badge but 5min later after getting top mount covers, rearview mirror and another badge another guy only charged me £5 for the lot

Got charged £10 for door cards... But then following weekend got charged £18 for the door speaker holders and something else, it really does depend on who servers you. I was expecting the splitter to be £10 alone!

Bargain mate ;)

And good progress man! The throttle bodies get horrendously dirty, however you should see in inside of the inlet manifold

Also i'd advise you to check your VAC hoses! Mine are in such a state :|

Keep up the good work :)

So I'm just sitting here on the computer minding my own business when a thought came into my head.

I was on the motorway a few weeks back and heard something hit underneath my car and fly out along the road, looked in rear mirror couldn't see anything and didn't think any else of it. It was only now that I remember checking my spark plugs and pushing the plugs back down the other day and actually sitting here in my chair that I have noticed that my Spark Plug Cover is missing. -.-

So I gathered it was the cover the flew down the motorway.

Gahhh argh!

Meh -.-

Took me ages to find one of them poxy things.

Well my gearbox decided to shit it's self today :disgust:

Thought it was the release bearings but the car started jumping and sounding like a FULL ON Supercharger on de-acceleration, pulled over couldn't move the gearstick at all, turned everything off and I managed to turn the car around (was less then a mile from my house luckily) and limped it home.

Insurance is all payed up and finished next month, this is the 3rd time now a box has crapped it self and this will be my last polo.

I'm deciding whether to get the box re-conned and sell it on and get my Golf Anni I'm after, or just a Gold 6 speed GT TDi.... decisions

Can anyone Rebuild boxes on here with the new rivet kit and service on the box???? Let me know!

  • 2 weeks later...

Well box was fixed today thanks to my mate, picked up a 16v box with only 47,000 miles on it for £100 - Also picked up a throttle body for £20 :)

Now all that is needed is the brakes fitted :p
