All of this "Dubstep" sounds the same to me.

  • Author

All pop shit sounds the same to me, as does metal, as does classical.

Its a genre its meant to sound similar :)

i like it man good stuff

ironic slating genre's that have been around for years and years, then dubbing your preferred genre as sounding similar.

Total contradiction, also just an example:

"All dubstep shit sounds the same to me, as does metal, as does classical.

i've just shared this on facebook while listening to it and i will probably download it and listen to it on the way to work tomorrow when i can listen to it loud with a propper sub too ;)

I will 100% honest, there is a nice bit around 6 mins but the rest is soul destroyingly poor, it doesn't bring anything new to the table and I find it hard to listen to because its boring. also, surely people must have learned from November Rain- by guns'n'roses that stupidly long songs don't work.

this is a mix of lots of songs not one song  mixes can go on for hours

Just had a little listen, some of the mixing is quite good  Not so keen on some of the songs though, just not really my style.

Here's a link to the last dub mix I made if anyone is interested - http://soundcloud.com/richibobs/dubstep-vol-3

how can you be listening to this on a sunday mate :p

get yourself onto some chilling dubstep vibes

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3Hf8xXd2GE : to name a pure classic!

i think dubstep is full of a decent range of sub-genres that make it pretty dam diverse. It just so happens the majority of the 'dubstep' that makes it into the charts and onto our radio stations all sounds quite similar.

Either way keep up the mixing, i sold most of my stuff not long ago and seeing people uploading there stuff on here has made me itch for a mix :-(

Also, as I'm commenting on other peoples creations, suppose its only fair i put up my own for assessment haha

like Vengaboys/Spicegirls mixtapes that my sister made in the 90's? man I prefer singular songs.

not sure if your joking or not and i don't mean to patronise you if you are but a lot of skill is involved in creating a mix

1. carefully choosing each song based on a number of factors : key, bpm and genre to name a few

2. getting that song to play at the same bpm as the one your currently playing (very hard as you only have your ear and a pitch adjuster)

3. getting the eq's right so as not to surprise your audience with a poor mix of treble, mid and bass

4. doing that over and over for up to, and sometimes over, 2 hours!

...thats just for amateur mixing...most of the pro's are on a different level!

absolutely understand mate, but it wasn't very pleasing to the ear.

ye mate, def each to there own...not a particular fan of the tunes myself

just get defensive when people think there is no skill involved

maybe your sister was a pro and I'm insulting her ability to create vengaboys/spicegirls mash ups ;)

I was around 5 at the time so I had no developed taste, back when if i was asked what football team I support I'd reply "england"

Great track man.

Going back to the original post i liked it! but i like it more when it started getting vocal it breaks up a mix and makes it more interesting for me.

Its like electro house some of my mates listen to it needs something chucked into the mix to break it up like funky house or soulful house does.

I also like oldskool dnb, jungle, hardcore, garage. IF i had it my way at work id be listening to pirate radio all day long!

I'm still giving dubstep a chance but it seems every shit band nowadays is trying to tap into the genre and producing shite!

radio 1 doesnt help by playing shite like coldplay remix's in dubstep lol

cheers for the feedback people. i listen to various types, i love coki, digital mystikz etc, but i also love funtcase and cookie etc.

I vary my mixing with all differant types of dubstep. and sometimes mix jump up dnb too. follow me for more mixes as i will be doing more over the winter.

and btw alot of the tracks in the mix i linked are from up and coming producers, just trying to get them some views before dubstep actaully dies.

safe.

I just don't understand dubstep. I'm a fan of bass but dubstep just makes me think of manure.
