Was there any pop-out windows for a 2F polo, if not how much would it cost someone to convert them to be??

Which windows, the rears? I'm not aware of them fitted as factory. Although I'm sure it could be done. Cost would depend on how much work you intend to do

The glass is big enough, and door seal is the right profile (if a little big).

Issue then is the hinges and clips. Not easy to drill, toughened glass..

Adhesive specifically designed for the job, with fittings designed for it, has been used in the past on factory cars (but not with such a big window that i know of).

I think he means the back windows like other small cars from the period. Would be cool to make a Polo's have that mechanism.

Tbh the windows on the 2f are about the same size as Saxo ones.

so should be possible. Drilling glass on the other hand.....

How would you do that though? I wonder if you could modify the body and mount a regular electric system from another car, they would only get as far as the arches but most rear windows don't go all the way anyway.

trying to remember what I've seen them used on.

megane coupes have electric pop out rear windows. they are however, utter bollocks and forever jam up in my experience of them.

swear there was on system on a car that used outwards sprung hinges and then had a motor with some steel wire on it to pull the window closed.

It was a people carrier/estate. could have been a ford or toyota.

I may of course dreamed about the whole thing

Chrysler voyagers have electric rear windows and they are quite big windows to open and close so it is definately possible and also the glass on them isn't drilled the hinges and mech are glues to the window so there's some ideas for you guys

you cannot drill toughened glass!

you may be able to make a clip of some sort to go around the glass to hold it, much easier you use a formed piece of perspex which you can drill- then use mk3 fiesta hinges and seals

if you dont believe me- touch an angle grinder on a piece of car glass and i bet in no longer then 10 minutes its gone booom

What would you do about the seals? Would you need to have custom ones made up or could the originals be modified?

could you use some off another car guy? my ibiza has them which sit on the car itself, when the windows out its just the glass thats away from the body. Dunno if you just get it off something like an ibiza and glue it to the polo body?

Window seals are shaped to the bends in the window frame tho, maybe a bit of heat would sort that out tho?

If the mechanicals are available that can just be bonded to the glass then the seal is really the only other thing that I can think of that could give any issues, everything else should be fairly straight forward

What kind of bonding would be used to replace the bolts tho? Only thin I can think of is tiger seal although if you could get hold of what's used from the factory you should be well in
