Well i've just reread the subject and it makes it look so stupid immediately.

BUT,

been on the forum for a few years, with few different accounts since i was about 15. A lot of people on here are under 21 with mainly modified cars, lowered, exhausts, sound system. My coupe is fairly standard, minus a few bits and bobs, backbox and wheels. Been looking to lower my car for too long and when i finally decided to order the kit, I phoned the insurance and they went tits about it, with some European mug saying he was going to cancel my cover there and then, even when i hadn't done it.

So more to the point. HOW THE HELL CAN YOU AFFORD TO INSURE IT OR BE ABLE TO INSURE IT?? when lowered? Wording to get around it?

My mate has just lowered his bready without declaring, but that's not an option as i'm not an idiot.

Some insurance companies are OK with modifications and won't pull your pants down if you try to declare them, depends who you're with!

Only option is to change insurers or just not declare it, which is naughty naughty.

depends how much you say its lowered by. lowering upto 50mm most companies seem to insure (for a higher price of course) but over 50mm and your buggered

Post Office had a shit about it when i suggested i was going to lower it 60mm at 20.

But then at 18 my saxo was insured with them with a declared 1.6 VTS engine transplant and nothing was said.

work hard and pay for you luxuries (saying that coilovers arnt that luxury lol).

Mines admiral insured for averaged 50mm drop. Honestly i have no idea how far mine is down but then how would they know its not like it says on the struts how far its lowered. Cost me about £30 more lowered than not lowered. Biggest expense was engine chip. De wedged throttle body and golf afm and cone filter didnt care too much but Chip was bout £100 extra last year dno this year tbh

So more to the point. HOW THE HELL CAN YOU AFFORD TO INSURE IT OR BE ABLE TO INSURE IT?? when lowered? Wording to get around it?

There are insurers out there who cater/specialise for modified cars, the same as there are insurers who cater/specialise in standard car insurance, it sounds like you picked the latter option.

I'm insured with admiral and it cost me £45 to lower my corsa 70-80mm (£15 of which was a admin fee) same price for my polo when I do it I was quoted £45 again and can ring them whenever I get round to it

All the same really. Just gotta phone around..

Yeah flux never got back to me on a quote and cant be bothered to chase it up. They dont insure young drivers do they?

i'm 23.. thats young.. please tell me thats young? (mid life crisis otherwise)

Flux are really good.

Really good other than their online quote system :x

flux do cover young uns 19 i think is the youngest, and with them its best to call, you get better prices and you speak to local people.

online they quoted me £1400, I rung then a few days later and they told me with the same details they would insure me for £1000.

Result.

Try several different price comparison websites, I've found moneysupermarket to return considerably cheaper results than confused.com.

I'm with flux, I told them from the beginning coilovers were wound to the bottom so I don't know how much that was on top but when I put an induction kit in they charged me £180
