Vehicles fitted with aftermarket HID systems must also be fitted with properly working washer and levelling systems.

We have already covered this.

And i love how the AA have omitted certain aspects of the original VOSA document in regards to HID's. Had a chat with my MOT guy today and mine will pass WITH Hid's when tested in the new year (no backhanders or mates favours) thanks to the one piece of info that the AA failed to put into print in that link.

I always thought tell-tale lights (head/indicators) were part of the test anyway?

I chopped a mates R plate range rover front end 4 months ago to fit the sport headlights, grill and bumper... he's gonna be fucked!!! no adjustment and the washers don't work... I told him it wasn't a good idea at the time :lol:

oh yeah and the fogs in the bumper aren't wired..

Well our cars should confuse the tester being the fact that they bridge the 1992 rule. Will they try enforcing the rule on to the pre Aug 92 cars, after all they did come from the factory with them.

Also what about the mk2's who's original owners decided on the catalyst as an optional extra?

The vehicle will fail the test if any airbag fitted as original equipment is obviously missing or defective. I'm up shit creek too then

I think it's a case that it'd fail if you have an airbag fitted, and the airbag warning light is on, or doesn't do the bulb test when you turn the ignition on - tell-tale sign that you've removed the bulb :p

But if the bag's no longer present and the light isn't on I'd think you'd be okay?

MOT test will also include checks for the correct function of the following, where fitted

EDIT: so you can no longer fit a racing wheel, remove the airbag and the associated systems and pass? lame!

yes they will turn the key and see which warning lights appear,then start the engine and see which warning lights go out

any warning lights not illuminated or not extinguished available to the particular model will be a fail

airbag being the main issue,not sure if abs warning light is already a fail?

yeah but ignition on - no light appears - no airbag visible? Will they have a print out of your vehicles spec saying what it should and shouldn't have?

You dont need a levelling device if the suspension of the vehicle is stiff/limits movements.

example being coming off a speed bump, cars with soft suspension "flash" as the back bounces around these would need a self levelling device but a car with stiff suspension doesn't do this so would not require levelling system under the new rules :)

It is also worthy of note that a few vehicles fitted with HID headlamps that have barely any luggage space and stiff suspension do not require a self-levelling system.

The original document had "High Performance Vehicle" but the MOT testers I've spoken to have questioned what counts as a high performance vehicle as the interpretation differs from person to person, there still waiting for the reply.

Just piggyback the SRS light to another bulb? Its bollocks, trying to get older cars off the road.

MOTs are rubbish anywho, nothing stopping you bolting standard bits back on for the test, their invalid as soon as it comes off the ramp lol, a bulb could go or anything

i would imagine the computer will say exactly whats testable for the car upon typing in the registration number,thats what there aiming at

so no light whatsoever would be a fail,

not sure on no air bag present but with the light which extinguishes though,guess its down to the tester not spotting the momo or his brain twitching at the small boss lol

i think it is to rid moddified cars off the road,but remains to be seen
