cant remember times but along the way i had a run in with a hedge that i decided to go say hello to. it bent one of my new shiny wings, i have made another one and just haven't got round to painting and throwing it on so you may notice this in some of the pics that i have one flared and one normal. it also bent the bit that the front gril sits on :-( this was the reasoning behind the black bonet as i needed to put some paint on to protect where the paint had chiped and thought black would be differnt.... this year plans are to get the other wing bolted on weld in a new support for the grill (one that isnt bent) and paint front end back to gold. bottom of the doors are showing slight rust bubbles under the paint so is the rear arches so they will be striped back and treated hopefully this year. also have some mk1 golf hubs and drivshaft that i won of ebay for 99p so will get some golf coilovers soon to get the front down more. hope you like him hears some randum pics.

Lovely car. But get rid of that silly bonnet!

i agree, thats stunning :D just the bonnet lets it down a bit

  • Author

thanks guys means alot :D

I haven't even taken him to a show before just dont feal he is up to scratch with whats out there hopefully will be more confedent with him when i have the wing and manafold on.

just out of interest is it the eyebrow spoiler you guys dont like or the black as i did for a small amount of time have it all gold with the spoiler and thought it looked ace, just make's it look alot meaner at the front. I will go back to a gold front end and might aswell spray the spoiler too as it attaches with only a few screws under the bonet so can easly taken off and on.

I sort of like the frowny bonnet, not sure why. Might work better as a single smoothed item and in the gold of the rest of the car. Very tidy thing and the front wing mod is especially nice, makes them match the rears a bit better.

The eyebrow just doesnt work. It doesn't fit the shape of the front end. Black bonnets also don't really work. It's a clean example, use that to show it off not tacky add ons and gimicky colour schemes.

What's this arch mod?

Photo-0022.jpg

That's the arch mod, subtle but very effective.

where did you buy those arches from mate?

your plate is UHT at the end you own a milkvan not a bread van haha

Shaping up nicely man, where did you get the headlights?

this is very nice except the bonnet, eyebrow and rear lights. but all to their own :)

also what headlights you running?

I'm sure they're from a mk1 Golf?

this is looking like a very nice build, as said the eyebrow doesent really suit it imo, but I'm glad you got new tyres on those wheels! really changes the look!

interested in how you got the golf crosshair lights to fit?

also I'm VERY jealous of the front arches. looks like you did a pretty good job on them too!

Do you still have the GL side trim you removed? I may be interested if you do.

arches were made from standard items braught from middleton pannels and the flared bit was cut from a mk1 golf wing sanded back and given a paint with some phosphoric acid to be sure then some paint thrown on. suprisingly fits very well only needs slight bending.

rear arches have had the black trim removed and repair panels welded on slightly out from where they should mount to extend if that makes sense.

headlights were a impulse buy from ebay brand new for £15 so i had to make them fit as they were so cheep, they do need a bit of work to make them fit well, the grill needs very carfull trimming. I'm not sure on deffinate measuments but there about a half inch bigger then standard items. mounting the light cages isnt so bad one screw top and bottom and then brace from the sides il try and get some pics soon, i have to have the grill of soon as it has cracked.

sadly i dont have the side trims as i threw them away :(

it has a great name. heh =P

i've been after some of those lights for a while, did you make them? saw some slighty smoked crystal ones on a mk1 golf and want some!

  • Author

yeah i love the headlights il be getting another set for the golf when I've finnished the bodywork. diddnt make them no, the lights are these i guess. i braught them second hand but still in box so wasent that expensive.

headlights

boo at throwing the trims away, since I started looking for them I've come to the conclusion that they might be made of unobtanium, mainly because everyone just ditches them when they have a set.

looks almost like mine ex bready, love the colour too, but bonet needs to go out mate.
