Hey all, I would just like your opinions on this please....

I bought some tyres from the for sale section of club polo about two and a half weeks ago now for £90 of rob2366. I paid him via paypal, it went straight into his account and the money was his. But then he transferred it to his bank account, which can take up to five days. Yet he wouldn't send the tyres until it has cleared into his bank, which i think was wrong as he had my money as soon as it was in his paypal, but hey.

Three or four days later he contacted me and said it had still not transferred, and that he was going away on work till after Christmas so he will refund me my money.

I checked my pay pal and nothing came. I text him more than once and did not get a reply for a few days. When I did get one, it was from his dad saying he was in hospital and he would sort me out when he got out.

After Christmas I text him again asking him for my money as I need it for new tyres, and his dad text back and said he can only give me £30 and then the rest at the end of January. I said that wasn't good enough and that I would have to go to paypal to sort it. He got mad at this and told me to F off.

Does this smell fishy to anyone?

I also asked if his dad could just send the tyres like originally planned and he said they had been sold, but when could he have sold them if he was only refunding me one day and in intensive care the next day?

Has anyone else had experience with rob2366?

yes... do a charge back via paypal... well as long as you didn't pay as gift.

if you send it the normal way then no you don't pay the fee the seller does. might be best to google how to do a paypal charge back as there should be a help topic on it

I did it opposite though so he could have his full £90? Ill have a google now!!

if you did it as monies owed or gift then you have no Paypal protection!

Warning to everyone

DO NOT PAY PEOPLE VIA GIFT OR MONIES OWED!!! If they say thats how they want it do not pay them! If you still want the item then just add 4% (or 3.4% +20p) to the total and pay via the normal purchase method. This means you keep your paypal protection and can do a charge back if things go bad!

When you click on resolve case on paypal it says you can't as it wasn't a purchase of goods. My fault for being an idiot. I rang the bank and asked for a chargeback and they said you have to wait 30 days. So I will have to wait for that!! Hopefully they can do it!

Just a quick update, the guys dad sent me £50 yesterday as he said it was all he could afford. And said his son is doing well and is now out of intensive care and will get into contact with me as soon as he can and explain, and send the rest of the money. So it looks like I am not being scammed, was just unfortunate! Can never be too careful these days though!!
