Seats that fit polo 6n

Featured Replies

Okay i think we need a little thread about seats that fit a 6n because each week theres another thread asking

So if you know of any seats that are a straight swap mention them

If you found some where bases needed slight modding to work mention them and describe how you did it

If you have some that have taken a shit load of work, mention it and show exactly what it took to do it.

So to start:

Ibiza cupra half leathers are pretty common

I'm currently running some from an ibiza sport

6n2 GTI are pretty commom

And Mk3 golf with the rear bench backings swapped for the 6n's

MK4 Golf Recaro's.

Another guy modded the subframe of the seat, but since I'm not putting the car back to standard when I sell, it's not an issue.

Chop off the old bracket with a grinder:

I used square box and cut it in half, like this:

Means I can do both seats with one bit. It only needs to be a little longer than the bolt holes on the front of the new seats.

Drill two holes 8mm? in size for the two pegs on the front of the seat to go through and make sure they're square with the bottom of the bracket, otherwise the seat will sit unlevel.

The little plastic runners need taken off the seats and sanded/filed/grinded down so they fit into the 6n2 runners. Trial and error to get these to fit.

Finger tighten the new bracket onto the seat and slide the seat into the runners. Tack weld the bracket in place or make a mark.

Weld the bracket in place:

Do this on both sides, and you'll have this:

I recommend doing the passenger first incase you need any parts and need the car to drive it..

All bolted up.

The backs just need the 6n2 backs on them. Just run a scrwedriver round the edges to separate the Golf items off. Do the same with the 6n/2 ones, and re-fit.

Don't drop the horse shoe clips down the hole! Refit and you'll have this:

Really comfortable seats:

I'm guessing with these brackets in place, the TT seats are a straight swap now too? I'm pretty sure I remember reading that..

Is Audi TT rear seat possible ? would it be possible with some modifications to install a TT rear seat into a 6n2 if not why are the seat sizes completely wrong etc anyone ever tryed it?

Does anyone know what I will need in order to put bucket seats into my 6n2? cant seem to find the right subframe... unless i dont know what I'm looking for :/

Sorry to be an arse but would the front seats from a mk3 gti fit straight into my polo 6n?

theres several ways to get buckets in your polos,

heres how my side mounted bucket is in my car,

welded two bars from the exhaust tunnel to the sills and then bolted the side mounts to them.
