mk2 golf ryder 1.3. coilovers, gti interior, jetta front ect

Featured Replies

hey guys. the polo is back on the road and i want some starmags for it ect so need moniez!

thought id put the golf up for sale, it needs some work, but could be a great project for someone?

most of the problems with it are little things and haven't botherd me in the 4 months of solid driving i did in it!

okay so here goes. (gonna be a long one)

mk2 golf ryder (1.3) j reg (1991) 110,000 miles-ish 4 speed

would also sell with an afh conversion out of my polo for £900

GOOD POINTS:

1.3 (cheap insurance and tax).

MOT till either september or october 2012 (cant remember exactly)

tax untill i think the end of feb (may have to take this off if theres no interest due to the new law)

jetta front end.

coilovers.

g60 top mounts

gti interior in quite good condition WITH rear headrests. front seats are on mk2 polo frames so they sit quite low!

alpine white so easy paint colour to get hold of.

ebc greenstuff pads on the front lotsof stopping power pulls up really well!

wind deflectors

mk2 polo coupe s steering wheel

crystal rear lights with top half tinted

bad points

-the worst point is it was bumped into by a cab driver on the passenger side (see pics), nothing serious, but as a result the crash bar, front bumper and part of the wing are bent. (wing not that noticeable). also the indicator housing is broken because of it. i straightened it out a bit but couldnt be bothered to get the new parts so i taped the indicator up and left it. been alright since. easy to fix if someones breaking a golf.

-engine has an oil leak. and its a bit tappety i think its from the fuel pump as there known for it, and the oil collects below it. its the mechanical type on the head. i just kept it topped up, didnt really bother me. if you cruise about its not too bad, only higher up the revs.

-arches are flared (front are a crazy amount) this was because i was running 13x8 wellers and they poked too much. the rears just need a bit of filler too look normal, but if you want the fronts to look normal youd be best getting 2 new wings (think there only £30 NEW from vw. saying that if your running wide wheels on the front then it will look fine.

-new drivers door but it is in white primer and has dropped slightly. also has a different key barrel (broke the old handle) as i never got round to swapping it over. correct one will be included!

-could do with another coat of paint on the drivers front wing (was a pattern part so only did a quick job to match the colour)

-horn. the horn was working but then i put an omp steering wheel on. I've now fitted a standard wheel and for some reason its stopped working! probably something simple.

-has no sterio as I'm now using it in my polo.

-sills have a dent on both sides (due to it being so low). there both pretty much the same so it kinda looks like it was made like that. not rusty or anything though and not very noticeable unless your looking for them.

-ripped the splitter off a few weeks ago on a speedbump. still have it so i may try and fit it back on if i can be bothered.

-no grill on the front lower valance (hit a fox on the A40 hahaha!).

-drivers side seat bolster has a tiny split on the bead. material is not worn however.

-light behind speedo sometimes doesent work. sure its something simple. yet when i took the headlight bulbs out it works fine?

-headlining is not in the car, i have it though so can include.

rust

NO MAJOR RUST! car is solid! only has a couple bits of surface rust.

small spot on lower front valance (pictured). this is the biggest bit of rust on the car.

passenger side wiper blank (bit for lhd wipers at a guess?)

holes from the plastic trims

thats all i can think of.

trying to be 100% honest about this car, imo, only needs a little bit of work to get it mint. seriously turns heads! always gets attention wherever it goes as its so low and wide!

i reckon a good weekend spent, and not alot of money and it could be awesome!

i want £500 on 15' bbs solitudes

any questions reply here or pm me! I'm in northwood hills (HA6) if anyone wants to have a look.

excuse the dirt in the pics! its been washed since! (hence the last photo)

Really like this car. Bent slam panel though, isn't that Cat B/C?

Its the crash bar behind the bumper, got hit by a taxi while parked. It only 4 bolts iirc and it comes off. Not a cat anything dude

Ah, I get you man, I thought you meant the actual bulkhead behind it, my bad!

I may be interested, but how sure are you on the oil leak? I've had enough bad experiences with head gaskets going and such to last me a lifetime so I'd be hesitant to try and drive it such a distance home.

Yeah its just the metal behind the bumper that the indicator screws into ect, I've had it off before.

Not 100% but before i took it off the road i drove it to leicester and then to portsmouth and it was fine, i just took spare oil and topped it up. Its normally alright on short journeys.

I was gonna get another engine for it as my friend was selling one for 50

I see. It's the oil leak thats stopping me from saying yes I'll take it off you (fuel pump wouldn't leak oil). Is it SORN'd now by the way?

yeah it would, the fuel pump is a mechanical one (on the head) same as a mk2 polo, and can leak.

yeah sorned it last week

Eurghh sold my mk2 last month and miss it already :( I'll try and sell the classics and the polo :)
