Just been looking for quotes when i renew my insurance in a couple of months, and evrytime i put in my registration number it says that i own a Lupo 1.4S

I'm guessing that stands for sport? Would this make my insurance higher than usual? Is there anyway of changing this?!

No, a sport is a sport.

The S is a 75hp version.

Insurance group 4 I think.

All the 1.4 Lupos are 75bhp

Again, only The 1.4 'sport' is a sport.

The 'S' has nothing to with the engine power just the interior and exterior trim of the car. If you have an S you should have electric windows, mirrors, central locking, if its an 'E', thats just the bog standard trim.

but i own a 1.4 mk4 polo, not a 1.4 lupo s.

my polo has 60bhp (i think) and you say the lupo S has 75?

Would this not be increasing my insurance? Is it worth finding out?

Just wierd because i remember when i was looking for quotes for my first year evryone was giving me like 1100 or 1200 quid for a mk4 1.4 polo, but as soon as i put in my registration plate the cheapest i could get was 1400!!

first compare if it's affecting your insurance... Get a quote using your number reg, then get the same quote but by entering what car you have rather than the reg...

I would recommend investigating, as I'm sure insuarnce companies find out your car details via the DVLA...

the 1.4 sport has the same engine in as a mk4 16v 100 brake

and the normal 1.4 is 75

you should definately investigate, if its coming up as a different car then you could have a dodgy motor on your hands. ring the DVLA, hpi check etc

the polo estate I had, when I tried getting a quote on tesco it kept coming up as "polo 1050 c" But It was a W reg so there was no way it was possible!

Sometimes they just screw up their records. check what comes up on http://www.rac.co.uk/web/carbuying/vehicle_data_search/ when you type your reg in.

Oh and 'S' is just a trim level, theres about 5 trim levels I think
