I'm looking to buy a pressure washer in time for summer, not really looking to spend any more than £100 if I can help it.

Just wondered how many of you guys use pressure washers and what you think? Can you recommend any from experience that might be worth a look?

I'm also wondering if a pressure washer would be alright to use to wash the whole car? (Lazyness....)

I think most people only use them for wheels, brakes, arches, underneath etc

I use them for the whole car. Some people cry about them ruining paintwork but they are just being pansies. All you need to do is avoid any pre-existing lacquer peel, otherwise you could end up with a satin paint finish

yeah they dont harm anything if you have some common sense and your paint is decent condition

id say dont spend heaps on one , they seem to last a few years whatever you buy , just get one with a long hose

"Karcher" seem to be the ones to look for

That sounds perfect! I'll have a look on the Tesco website when I get in, might even have to go and pick one up at the weekend and have a go if I can.

I've seen adverts on tele for Karcher pressure washers (that was a while ago) and wanted one ever since!

What pressure washers do you use at the moment?

I use my parents Karcher which is 10+ years old to wash my car and its excellent. It also has a lance attachement with a dispenser which is great for snow foaming.

I tend to use for blasting lose stuff off so I don't drag it around and make more swirls etc. have a karcher thats at least 15 years old and is fine, even managed to cut myself with it the other day so it's still got power lol

My Karcher is at least 5 years old and going strong.

I reccomend getting one of these to go with it, makes cleaning so much quicker.

I tend to give mine a blast with the karcher occasionally - mainly during winter when I really cba to wash it properly as it'll just get dirty as soon as it's rolling..

You by no means get a good finish compared to washing it properly but it does the job for rinsing the crap off

guy who lives opposite me is a professional valeter/detailer, hes real good.

he normally jet washes then uses a bit of snow foam, cleans badges etc with a soft brush, rinses off, snow foams again, then washes with a mit but using gravel buckets etc (have a tray in the bottom so mit doesnt sit and collect grit) then rinses, dries, clays/ironx, compounds, polish, seal, wax etc lol.

Never heard that one before, gravel buckets, grit guard. 2 bucket method works well. After left to dwell with snowfoam

well gets lose dirt off, then losens other stuff, then washes? lol makes logical sense to me :p

Been looking on tesco direct, theres a couple that look alright really, cant find the £85 one but this one looks like itll do the trick, and within the £100 budget!

Must be soft not to scratch? Looks good to me though.

Trouble with karcher ones is the lower end range, (now in the last 5 years) ones use plastic pumps, which are crap. Make sure you get a metal pump, and drain the water well if kept in a garage or shed in cold weather

It's something like £169.99 in Argos... so hopefully should be a good'un. As long as it makes light work of my wheels I'll be well chuffed with it.

I got one from Halfords for £30. Its a couple of years old but it still does the job. If it was on its way out I'd be tempted to buy that £85 Karcher.

Get a Nilfisk, They are cheap but very good. I've got this one. Also a lot of people on DetailingWorld recommend them as well.

Picked up the karcher earlier this week. Not used it yet though - thanks to it being dark by 5.15pm every week day and the cars in the garage now! Will be playing saturday. NEW TOY!!
