Hi,

I have a 02 plate Polo (petrol, 1.2) and whenever I turn the key to start the engine a single electronic warning beep sounds. No lights stay on the dash, it starts no problem and it drives fine. Can anyone help me find out what this? It only started a week ago after being in the garage to have a new suspension spring fitted to the nearside passenger wheel (don't know if these 2 are related).

The only things that I know needs doing to the car are the bearings on the nearside passenger wheel and a new battery.

Any help will be appreciated

If, when the beep sounds - the message INSP or similar comes up on the dash, it is the service interval warning saying " please service me " if it's been serviced recently they probably haven't reset it.

Mines been saying it for ages... I'm just too lazy to reset it.

I thought it might be something to do with a service, but nothing comes up on the dash at all.

as far as I'm aware the 9n polo (2002- round headlights) does not beep on service reminder.

Have you checked your oil level?

Do these have pad wear sensors etc?

Yep they would have pad wear sensors, but they would usually have a light on.

I note you need a new battery.

Is the beep coming from the actual dash or an alarm (if fitted)? It's definitely abnormal to beep on start-up.

Its definitely not the alarm. It is a very short beep so its hard to tell where its coming from but I would say the dash. Its a different sound, but comes from the same area as the warning beep for petrol and the beeps when you open the door with the lights/indicators still on (this car has a beep for everything!)

Do you have a hands free kit fitted? Mine makes a beep if the Bluetooth is not turned on.
