i have just got a new box in my 2001 1.0 6n2. Before it would be going 60mph at about 3500 revs, stupid. However now it will be doing 70+ at 3-3500. I think it must have been the wrong second hand gear box before as the person i brought it off put it in. what do you think? Now it drives like a dream, box is perfect, its a recon with upgraded barrings.

its probs from a 1.4 mate, better top end and will be slower to 60 now

You may notice the difference in petrol consumption, as well as performance, but as said above, if you are happy with it, then it will be fine.

depending on the type of driving if you do a lot of town driving you wont see much of a difference.

if you do a lot of motorway miles you should notice a improvement in fuel economy and noise levels, also i found first and second are quite similar to a 1 litre box so acceleration (up to about 50) wasn't effected too badly.
