My 6n2 GTi....

Featured Replies

Had this about a week, got it to replace my MR2 which wasn't practical enough and started to annoy me the lack of space. Was a fun car but only really good for a summer toy. Was going to go for another Mk4 Astra SRi/Coupe then this popped up local for a bargain price so went for a look, done some haggling, and bought it.

Brakes felt pretty dodgy so whipped the wheels off to bleed them and found the problem. The threaded end of the CV joint had snapped off some how so the whole lot was moving around quite dangerously and the only thing holding the wheel on was the caliper. :o New CV joint fitted and all was well. Also had to raise the front as it was too low and catching and the ride was gash.

Wheels are badly in need of a refurb so thats 1st on the list. And another cpl of small niggles to sort but no rush.

As you can maybe see, the front left wheel centre is silver and the rest a kinda grey colour so they need done. Not sure if i fancy doing the centre's red, or keep them anthracite.

I'd just do them silver with polished lips. Nice and understated. Reds a bit 'hey look at me'.

Gonna go for a light anthracite with polished lips. Yeah i had a think and red is a bit 2010. I have an image in my head of 1 with red centres and it looked good but can't find any pics.

I don't think it will look bad. It just wouldn't look as good as a more subtle colour like anthracite or silver.

Is this on original suspension? I dont have a gti but know the suspension sits lower and I'm running on these bbs rx2 wheels aswell! So obviously the hugging of the wheel is tempting if these are standard ;)

Deffo not on original suspension, he says he had to raise it ^ up there and says it's on coilovers in another thread.

I have these same wheels (so long as you're talking the 16" version) if you put them on without lowering the car there will be significant arch gap, there was on mine although they have a '45 tyre profile.
