I've got to do some work on the other half's Polo, its a 1998 so I think that's the Mk4/6N style...

Some of the bushes on the front wishbones are worn, but am I better off buying new complete wishbones, or replacing the bushes and ball-joints on the old ones?

I had the same thing with a Fiat Uno, but I ended up replacing the complete wishbones as apparently the new balljoints never seat properly...

Tbh I just bought:

2x lower arms with bushes

2x lower ball joints

2 wheel bearings

2 brake flex hoses

Top suspension mounts & bearings

For like £90, ok I get a decent discount but new bottom arms are only like £25 for a 6n, bushes can be hassle to press in and out so I just do the lot

Do you mind if I ask where you bought them?

I've got to do the rear wheel bearings as well, plus the rear brakes...

Cheers, I'll try the parts departments I usually use tomorrow if I get a chance, been trawling through the net, and it looks as it its going cost a fair bit!

So far the best prices I've had are:

-windscreen £125 fitted (better than autoglass' £477!)

-rear brake drums £29 each. Hopefully the ones on there will be ok!

-rear brake shoes £30 full set

-rear wheel bearings £7 each

-front wishbones, complete £27 each (inc. postage)

-handbrake cables £10 each

So that totals over £300 in parts!

...might need rear brake cylinders as well...

Currently trying to weigh up whether its worth doing the work, or if we should flog/scrap it...
