Bargain Stupid arches 6n2 daily.

Featured Replies

Hi guys. New to the site. Been meaning to join up for ages but never pulled the finger out.

I picked up my 2001 reg 6n2 1.4 mpi polo off my next door neighbour last novemeber for £550. It had only had one owner from new an full service history. Couldnt believe it when they said it was so cheap. Car is well speced out, all electrics, sunroof, colour coded bumpstrips etc. It had around 86k on it when I bought it but ran brilliantly.

First mod coilovers. Opted for a set of joms as they provided the lows I was looking. Drove on the standard wheels until I sorted a new set out. Debadged and de wipered at the front new Fitted a new head unit and door speakers an parcel shelf speakers when I got the car as well. The car is used as a daily an is run static

Since purchase this car has been featured on Sho'werks website and been at a number of shows around Ireland. Also involved with a run in with the police. Will upload photos an more info as soon as I can.

  • Sould of cut the arch/bumber after to allow it to come off .. Could of made it look ace if it was tapered and done .. Just be a shame if it cracks now :/

£550?! Its easily worth 3 times that!

Get some decent pics up but looks like a really clean and tidy car to use as a base for tasteful mods.

Few pics here of the car with coils in. As I said earlier I went with jom ones. They don't get a good review in regards to comfort etc but they go the lowest an that's what I was looking for so couldn't complain!

Wound right down they go around 110mm at the front and 100mm at the rear. Can still get full lock with a bit of scrub on the inner arch. However the driverside driveshaft rubs on the chassis

After a few months on the standard wheels I came across these bad boys my mate was selling. Traded a dead civic for them. They are proper banded steels is all i know. I'm running 165/55/13 nankangs at each corner and there is noticaby more stretch on the rear. Had to remove the Mudflaps as they bent under car:/ now catching cats eyes on subframe

The po was given a feature by Sho'werks in summer. Sho'werks are a great bunch of guys who Organise most of the shows in northern ireland and i went to most of the shows with them and they were kind enough to do a feature and write up of the car online. Feature can be found at www.showerks.com

I am so surprised how epic this looks on 13s... Keep up the good work bro! ;)

Bad times. Was stopped in September by the police. They said my wheels were illegal and the car was dangerous to other road users as the wheels protruded by 4cm and could injure people. Ended up in court twice about it and was looking at three points but managed to get off with a £200 fine.

Unfortunaltly I've had to take the banded steels off but I'm in the process of getting custom arches made for the rear to keep everything legal:) will have progress pics of the build soon.

Since then then the car went through mot with a list of work being done. Exhaust flexi, arb brackets, bottom arm bushes. Standard stuff for running so low 24/7

Sorted a few things out such as selector seal was leaking so fixed that, new headlights went in, standard servicing bits an pieces. When I got the car the wing mirror adjuster toggle was broken an I just got a new one off eBay an fitted that last week. Basically been tidying bits up over winter.

Plans for the new year are the wide arches, gti front end and then look at an engine swap. Will keep thread updated:)

Cheers dude. I'm not a fan of big wheels. 15s would be the limit I would go. It's hard to find many 13" wheels but:/

The 13s work so well on this in my opinion, they just need a fresh paint job and it will look sick.

Yeah they look the business. Ino I've painted them a few times but only quick touch ups. Going to give them a good coat while they are off atm. Can't decide to keep them white or do something wild with them. Have been offered Porsche Riveara blue paint which I'm tempted with. Dunno how well it would work though

Release bearing is away:(

Put a new clutch in this thing last may an it was running fine. Over Christmas te clutch pedal started getting very grindy and crunchy and I could fell the bearing rattling away. Ahh nightmare. Parts warranty will cover it hopefully. Lucky these things arent to bad to put clutches into!

Ahh well I'm almost pleased you are having some problems, considering the price you paid!! Puts the amount I paid for mine to shame!!

Car is looking decent mate. The wheels are sick. Love the sticker bomb centers really different - might have to steal that idea for the set I'm refurbing!!! o.O

Bought a few bits a pieces today for the polo. Thanks to yorks for the grills an fogs. Just waiting for them to arrive an get a light switch. Then we be rolling with fogs:D

Also to racer-ev for the window switch as my Passanger switch on the drivers side packed it in.

While waiting for these parts to fit I decided to do this

6c06d51b.jpg

Ino they are big in the states an stuff but I just decided to do one with my old board that was lying about. Might do a build thread in the non polos:P dunno yet.

More items bought for the polo. Gti splitter, arch kit for the rear an a headlight switch.

Fogs an grills arrived yesterday thanks yorks! So once the switch arrives I'll get pics up an them fitted!

Not gunna lie, when I first saw it on the banded steels it didnt look good. But somehow you've pulled them off so well now?! (Think the stickerd centres might have done it) Looks sick mate, even like the stickerbombed rear windows, and thats saying something as I like my cars clean. Love the little stickers above the headlight aswell.
