Awesome work on the car mate, marmite but i like it :)

Althoughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.. needs some proper wheels that are silly wide and the rear arches need to be blended into the car better.. so it flows into rather than having a step if you get me?

keep it up tho!

Yeah I totally get you dude. Its been annoying me and The arch on a arch is getting blended so It's all one and the fronts are getting pulled. I've been on the look out for a set of bullet/wellar steels to fill the arches more or a set of wider steels probably 9j fronts and 10/10.5j rear

  • Sould of cut the arch/bumber after to allow it to come off .. Could of made it look ace if it was tapered and done .. Just be a shame if it cracks now :/

Saw this come up on my FB news feed, this looks absolutely rad! Love the standard trims too! Keep it up!

Gotta be honest those rear arches ruin it for me, just looks like you couldn't go low because of the poke so stuck some arch trims on lower. Would look so much better with properly flared arches and rear lows to match the front.

Arches were put on because of the run in with the police an the court appearance for too much poke. It's getting smoothed properly at the back to make it one arch an the fronts rolled out to make it wider at the front.

arches look poor!! dont like the car i think your trying to hard..?

To be fair mate. I didn't fit the arches so it's no reflection on me or my work. They are getting smoothed off to look less arch on arch. Don't get how I'm Trying to hard. I've seen guys on here slam there cars then batter the arches out with hammers cause they cant run the wheels its a Bit haggard looking. But each to their own. I fitted these arches because I got pulled and sent to court by the police because of my poke.

Don't get me wrong dude. Respect to be boys that do this cause it takes balls to take a hammer and such to your car. I just didn't fancy it with mine.

Saw the swap on instagram 1 question I'm told the imobiliser for 6n2s and in the clocks but noticed you hadn't changed your clocks.. What did you have to change from the interior like looms ignotion barrel fuel pump things like that

Yeah I didn't change my clocks. I needed the whole engine loom as I took an 8v out and put a 16v in. I used a gti immobiliser and key. Unplugged the old immob plugged gti in with gti key in it and tucked away. So I can still use my old key and key barrel.

I'm still running the 8v fuel pump, starter, fan and gearbox but with a gti clutch and flywheel. Interior loom is still 8v it wasn't touched.

What thats nuts everyone i know thats done a gti conversion has told me to buy a smashed up gti and reshell it into mine but that sounded like effort lol bit confused tho did you get the gti key to work in the 1.4 barrel?

Maby you can help me with my problem i bought my car as a 1.0 8v but it was fuggered so i found a cheap 1.4 8v and wacked it in there, when i tried the 1.4 ecu it wouldnt work with the 1.0 imob obvs so I've been running it off the 1.0 ecu ,the 1.4 ecu is from a diff car than the one the engine came from, Do i need to get the ecu imob and key from the car that the engine came from or can i just get it from another car with the same engine code? Sorry about the essays/20 questions its just buggin me running as 1.0 lol

No worries dude. Sure this is the point of forums. Get help from peops who have done it!

I still use my 1.4 key in my 1.4 barrel. What I've done is unplugged the 1.4 immob and plugged in the gti immob with the gti key in the key transponder and hidden in car.

In response to other questions it would be best if you got ecu, key and immob from same car cause I think they will all be coded the same. Don't think they need to be from same engine. But don't quote me on that.

Oh sounds piss easy just need to find out where the imob is now cheers dude :)

Really like it from the rear. I agree though, it needs less of a step on the arch, minus that, it works well. Props to you for having the balls.

Mashed a cats eye on way into work at around 90mph wasn't fun. New sump should be here tomorrow. £125 from Vw as its a dealer only part here in Northern Ireland:( hopefully its all good

Sump done yesterday after work. Wasn't too bad, a few of the 5mms are pretty tricky to get at ie the two through the gearbox an the one that hid on me above the o/s driveshaft. Had more fun getting my car into the workshop over a lip smaller than a feg packet.

Anyway fingers crossed I don't do it again as its not cheap:D

Few random snaps and mot shit. Car going back to body shop to get arches redid because of the shitty arch on arch banter that has annoyed so many people and myself

Plans for the new year are to get the bullets on once weather picks up. Remove rear seats build a false floor, new front seats and its going back to get arches flushed into body and an inch taken off them start of the new year. Also very tempted to look into more power

Whats the specs on the bullet steels?
