Have been working on the car this morning and the bloody thing won't turn over. Was turning fine on the starter last week. I've had the battery on charge but no difference and I've also connected the battery from the diesel to eliminate a weak battery (possible concern) but to no avail.

To those who have been helping, I have removed the purple/White wire from the coil too but I can't get a voltage reading at the coil at all, even with the wire connected. I know I had a spark out of the king lead last weak as I tested it.

What has happened in the last week? All fuses has also been checked

A further concern, the wires to the heater were heating up with the ignition on too. The main block to chassis earth was getting hot too. Have added the earth from g.box to chassis too. No help

I'd left it in gear, and the starter/battery didn't have enough juice to turn it. I must have accidentally knocked the gear stick when doing the brake light switch

Anyway, she runs lumpy and I can just about get her to idle if i faff with the dizzy. But she seems to take an awful

Long time to actually get going, even with my diesel battery, which is huge! She'll crank, but not with much speed until finally she'll fire. I can see one of the earths getting hot as it starts to smoke/steam. My neighbour seems to think that since it's a fully rebuilt engine, things are fairly tight ATM, so will loosen off. Makes sense, but could this be causing the problem? Not sure I have the timing 100% yet though

6n/2 posi lead from battery to starter, similarly uprated battery negative lead, 6n/2 starter and flywheel, major earthing from block to shell, shouldn't be a problem (that's the set up i needed for the 1.6 with 12.3:1 compression, ran it through the winter like that).

The circumference of the flywheel is small for a high compression 1.6, so thanks to the gearing on it, the starter is overworked and draws more ampage than it should.

Thanks mikey. I'm using the 6n starter with fly wheel. But you may think i need to get the wiring from the 6n aswell?
