This is my new project, after spending hours looking through different forums looking for a cheap engine damaged polo, i found this. It's a 2000 6n2 polo Gti with 115,000 miles on the clock. It had no mot or tax, failed the mot on exhaust emission due to the engine was kicking out clouds of black smoke. Also had a flat tyre and the climate control fan makes a tapping noise.

Apart from that the body work and interior is in very good condition, the gearbox had recently been recondition.

Since i stripped my last Gti due to the rear end was a welding mess, i've had a good engine with a bad gearbox in my shed, so the plan is to remove the bad engine and swap it with my old engine.

So alot has happen over the last two weeks since buying it. Got the old Engine and Gearbox out and swapped the good gearbox on to the good engine.

Then put it back together

At this point thought it was a good time to change the oil, filters, spark plugs etc. I think it was about time i changed the pollen filter

When that was done i fitted my longlife stainless steel sports cat back exhaust including back box

Put the bonnet back on and the bumper, had a little clean up off the engine bay, checked the fluids and started her up, started first time . Let it run for a few minutes to check for leaks. Turns out the new gearbox has a slight leak from the gear selector seal.

Thought i'd better get a new set of tyres as the old ones weren't that great. So got a set of toyo proxies:

So took off the good rims and sent them off to get the new tyres on, so out came my old set of bbs rx2.

Also She failed the mot on abs sensor, windscreen wiper blade and the horn doesn't work (opps may off forgot to plug it back in :S). So to find out which ABS sensor it is i borrowed a Vas Diagnostic machine from work :p.

Turns out both front and rear left hand side need replacing, just ordered the bits from Euro Car Parts so they should be here by Tuesday.

Also does anybody know the part number for the selector seal?

Thanks, next plans are to fit the coilovers that have been sat in my garage for a while :)

Got the bits needed to pass my mot

Had a few problems fitting the abs sensors but got there in the end. Passed her mot so got her tax'd, now taking her for the 1st proper time :D

I haven't gone that low just yet but plans are to lower it more when i fit some spacers on her.

Spent two hours in the workshop to come out to this, surprised me as it was sunny before i went in:

Car went back into the workshop today, lowered the front 20mm and sorted out the negative camber that was burning thru the front tires. Will get pictures up at the weekend.

Also got around to putting my private plate on.

Little update;

Driving back from work got a little bit eventful, got half way home to hear a bang and then sounded like something had fallen off.

Got home to find the bottom engine bracket had done this:

So i borrowed the gf's car and ran down to my garage to get my spare one.

Both of them together:

Fitted the replacement, took her for a test drive, thankfully no other damage

Gave her a clean today, also got round to loading up pictures of my private plate.

So after not driving this for a while it was about time i cracked her out of the garage. Replaced the selector seal due to leaking every where, big thumps up to nige8021 for his information on the part number and how to do it. Also decided to wash her than take some decent pictures. Forgot also i got a black seat arosa mirror as the big white gti one was an eye sore.
