The cost of a door would be the least of your worries mate.

Sure, its do-able, do you have the required skills, equipment, money, patience to do it properly?

If not, forget it and get it done right.

I'm sure the hecklers will be along shortly. :ninja:

to get the rear quarter on mt old 306 done when it was dented i was quoted 400 quid but my dent was a bit smaller than that but if you smash it out first it will help.

i can't imagine doors would be too much off ebay either.

hope that gives you some idea

ouch! breakers/ebay for the door/wing (try and get the right colour panels, as this will save you a few quid). a skilled panel beater could reshape the rear, but in all honesty you would be better off getting a new panel welded in (I don't think there would be much difference in cost due to the amount of panel beating it would require and you'll probably find that there arent many panel beaters left with the skills to reshape that anyway!)

The one concern I would have is that obviously modern cars are galvanised, so that coating would be damaged now. I personally wouldnt keep the car to long after getting it repaired as that area of the car will be a weak spot for future rust

Cheapest way to repair that would be a second hand door, wing and a new rear quarter (you could use a second hand qaurter but the person fitting it should really cut it out too )doing as much as the work yourself would cut costs,

What internal damage has been done?

Airbags,seat belt pre-tensioners ect,?

Just noticed its the front wing aswell, don't know how much it will cost but if it's bent anything anywhere else even slightly it'll be a lot more work.

My whole side from the door all along the rear quarter got done, quite similar to yours. Cost me £600.

If someone tried to repair that quarter they are waisting their time. It will never look righ that needs replaced

For a quarter panel and door your looking at £700 in parts alone from vw

Any bodyshop I know wouldnt even try to get that dent out, too muchtime and hassle! Bodyshops tend to look for the easiest way out, which In your case happens to be cutting the quarter out and welding new one in!

+1

No way should any bodyshop try and repair that 1/4...where I work we deffo wouldn't.

You may want to take the 1/4 card out and see if it's damaged any of the strengthners and also jack it up and have a quick look at the inner arch.

As for the door and wing, breakers is you best bet.

Your still looking at about £1000 to put it right.

dude, least of your worries is the door, the car wants a full side on it. wing, door and quarter. without knowing price of pannels the job alone is going to be £500-£600 plus vat, deffinately one for your insurance mate

just looked at picture again and the rear wheel looks to be sat out of line, and i dont think its the quarter thats making it look off, have you had the car to a bodyshop for a proper look and a quote yet? most shops offer free quotes so be your best option

Dont speak out of your cock.

It's not the easiest way out, it's the correct way!

Realistically that polo will need -

Geometry Check

Replace 1/4 Panel

(Includes Remove/Refit Window!)

Repair inner rear 1/4 Panel

Replace Door ( Possibly window regulator )

Replace wing.

Painting of the new panels

Possibly taking into account blending bonnet depending on edge to edge colour match of the wing!

Possibly paint bumpers also.

Then theres any hidden damage, B-Post being in ( Hypothetically ).

Swerve that one for a home repair if your uncertain ;).

Also Repair and Paint rear bumper corner ;)

as above really, with the addition of looking at potential axle damage- i cant see the wheel/axle getting of without damage looking at the panel damage above it- might be bent and/or axle mountings shifted.

need to see how much the car is out on a jig before you start anything- so you know the score with the repair before you start.

Thats why i said geometry check! ha
