Ok so i bought this white 6n today off a friend, it does need quite abit of work on the paintwork but shouldnt be that hard to sort as I'm a paint sprayer myself, ok now for the engine when i bought it she said that it overheats so me and my mate had a look at it and when u filled it up with water it just poured out of were the thermostat is so i tightnend this up earlier and now it holds water and the temperture on the dash goes into the middle like it should but the engine is smoking around the area of the thermostat is this just water and oil burning off or somthing more serious, my plan was to buy a new thermostat and thermostat housing and hoping that would fix it does anyone else have any suggestions or help?

Overall its not a bad car if i get the engine sorted, then i will concentrate on the paintwork and get rid of the rust and the flaking paint, then valver bumpers, spoiler and coilovers and lots lots more will be added! I've got big plans for this car but keeping my plans to myself for the time being :)

Sounds like its just the coolant burning on the exhaust/engine when its hot but yes replace it with a new seal clean it up as best as you can it'll smoke a little then be ok

no, have to get that too, only 70p for the O ring.

ok so the snow didnt stop me today first thing i did was pop the bonnet and see what the water was like, and looked in the coolant and it had completly gone!, so started filling it up again and it started pouring out again were the thermostat housing is that i tightend up so was feeling about down there and it feels like theres a gap do people think the seal is just completly missing?? i have uploaded a picture of were its coming out,

and the second thing i set on doing was removing the stars and i knew some of them was going to remove paint as i tried yesterday, turns out half of the stars peeled paint off with them :(

I'm back at work all this week, so next saturday i will be blowing in the paint where the stars were and hopefully fixing the engine issues and spraying few other bits :)

i was going to but didnt know what snow was like near u pal, and I'm not fully painting it yet it will just be getting blown in next weekend for time being :)

Yet I'd just get a new housing, seal and coolant temp sensor, mine leaked from there as well but never that bad I had split the seal

you should probably change what you drive now on the user thingy now looks a project and a half :p

good idea, and its not that bad to be honest paint work can be sorted easily and hopefully engine will be sorted soon
